This is a question for fans of Red Dwarf. Which Holly do you prefer? The Male Holly from the early season's which actually took place on the Red Dwarf or the Female Holly from later series that took place on Star Bug?

I think I preferred the female Holly, Hattie Hayridge, the best.
She played the blonde "airhead" to perfection. That's not to say Norman Lovett's Holly wasn't any good. His "couldn't give a crap" attitude was pretty funny too. |

There is a third Holly in the 1st and 2nd US pilot who is played by Jane Leeves.
I did not like the lipstick on Hattie Hayridge, but was good other then that. Here is the Red Dwarf US Pilot [1992] with Jane Leeves as Holly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mlnntKi2no |

Male Holly. Hattie was funny, but Norman's more my style of humor. He's even hilarious on the DVD commentaries.
I would have been happy if either Holly would have returned for Red Dwarf X. |

I liked both Norman and Hattie's versions of Holly. To me it's not a matter of one being better than the other. They're just two different versions of the character. Each funny in their own way!
