Default How DOOL gets rid of characters

God, they do it every time! Every time they write a character off, it's because they found out something shocking about a loved one and is pissed off. But then they have a sappy-ass goodbye. The following examples:
Austin(He found out about all the lies Sami told)
Greta(She found out about Jack's lie, and that he isn't gay)
AND NOW:
Brandon(Eugenia is going to tell him about the whole Sami switching the tests and he is going to be all pissed and he is going to leave town...)
Gosh can't they come up with something original. They are too freaking afraid of killing off a character. I think it would help the ratings. Sure, some fans would be mad, hell, even I would be mad but I love being so mad, that I get a huge thrill and want to see more. Anyone else feel that way or would you totally abandon DOOL, for killing off a character. Personally, I think the whole sappy goodbye is overdone. And deaths that don't turn out to be real are overdone(Passions!!) so in the soap I am writing, when the character dies, they die...But it is a good thing because I am only writing 8 years of it, and I am planning a HUGE ending. So it's not like it is going to be a very long soap.
But anyway, I know that DOOL needs the ratings or else they will be cancelled. This new "proposal" sounds really bad. I mean focusing on the love triangle between Tony/Marlena/John until 2005?!?!?! If it is going to be like that, I would rather not watch. And turning the teens into actors from an afterschool special, by making them go into "bad" situations like drinking and premarital sex, is just so stupid. Hope it gets better, for my sake and the future of the show.
BTW, this whole Earthquake thing could have been better. Just springing this whole "Rex is evil" thing on us, is just weird. And him filming it and crap. And having Lexie go into labor, by her self in a pit, I mean come on...
Well, anyway...

As long as they keep Belle, I'm happy.

Belle? Belle isn't as pretty as Chole, and her acting sort of sucks. Sorry jmo

Also I think it is crap that just because Chole is leaving, they have to get rid of Craig and Nancy too. They were in the show before Chole even came, why can't they still be in the show with out her?

hmm.. i thought you knew she was my fav. imo, chloe and belle look similar. except for eyebrows and stuff, and of course hair color and length. i think it's good to gid rid of some characters to make room for new. (maybe getting rid of some of the teen cast from the late 90's means some more teens. i hope so)

You know one of the reasons I don't watch All My Children anymore, is that they put all these teen agers in it, they suck. I love the major cast - the grown ups. They need to focus on them, not kids falling in love and then falling out of it. Also the guy that plays Tad and Brooke's son, Jamie I think, he is creepy looking. jmo

I can't wait until they firing him like they did all the actors who played JR

But anyways that is why I don't care for All My Children. Even my favorite character Kendall Hart can't keep me to watch that stupid crap.

I doubt that's going to happen. For one, I know a lot of DAYS fans that are getting extremely annoyed by the teens. And second, the new head writer said that she is going to focus more on the adults and make the teen characters more adult.

I so agree. That's one of the reasons why I swtarted to get so annoyed with DAYS. Luckily they've toned down the teen scene considerably. Not to sound mean, but when I tune into DAYS, I wanna see a soap opera, NOT the damn Disney Channel.

I think the Teen storylines are ok, when done right. With the soap I am writing, there are just as many adult characters as there are teens. I think that balance is the only answer. You can't have too much teen stuff and too much grown up stuff. Sorry if I offend Y&R fans but I don't even see WHY Y&R is #1. It is frankly boring to me. I stopped watching, after I had watched for many years. I just felt it was rather boring. There are mainly just adults.

Ain't that the truth!!

What was said about Brandon previously, is incorrect, I believe. I have heard another story about Brandon leaving, and it's got a twist. He leaves after everyone else gets mad at him. But, that's just what I heard. I also heard that that info was in SOD. But I'm not sure I didn't personally read it.

And in regards to the T/M/J thing, TIIC told us (Jarlena fans) that Tony wasn't involved in their (Jarlena's) new storyline. But TIIC have lied and betrayed us so much till I don't really believe anything they tell us. I think all of this Mony stuff is pure CRAP!! The real Marlena doesn't act like this Marlena that we are watching now, IS NOT IN NO WAY THE REAL ONE. What I mean by that is, she is being written OUT OF CHARACTER. I don't want to get started talking, well ranting, about that so I'll go now.

You know what, I always wondered what happened to Hattie. I always thought they just took her off and decided not to go along with her, but I wonder if that really might be Hattie taking Marlena's place and we the audience aren't really clued into the scheme like we normally are. Something may have happened off camera, sorta like how they made Bo & Hope together to concieve Zack but we never saw it. Does anyone get what I'm saying? lol

Personally, I believe aging the teenagers is going to be an idiotic move. When they are aged, aren't they suppose to be about 22 or 23? If so, how are they going to explain about college? They entered college a few months ago, how can they have graduated college within a few months? All I have to say about that is, STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since they are aging the teens, they'll have to age Brady also. Brady and Belle can't be around the same age.

I'm glad this new writer is going to focus more on the adults, that's what
I've been waiting for and have been
wanting for some time now, instead
of 24/7 of the teen scene, it's trully
getting out of hand, at least I think
so.

Really. What are they doing to Marlena? She was really getting on my nerves Thursday. Bring back the real Marlena!!

They do this crazy stuff with soaps. Belle & Brady were flower girl and ring barer (sp?) in John & Marlena's wedding, and just before they got married John surprised Marlena with Belle's birth certificate with her last name switched from Brady to Black. But then when they got back from their honeymoon Belle was suddenly a teenager and throwing them a coming home party.

Also, Shawn was originally MUCH older than Belle. He was like between the ages of 9 and 12 when Belle was born. And Brady and Belle were also originally a year or two apart in age.

And Abby was also originally older than Brady and Belle. They went ahead and made them all older, while leaving Abby behind as still a rather small child.

So aging the teens wouldn't be as idiotic as it sounds. A lot more bizarre things have happened in the past when it comes to children and their ages. They do it on all soaps
