Hilary Duff Brings 'Lizzie McGuire' To Big Screen, Records Debut LP

Hilary Duff's role as the leading lady to "Agent Cody Banks" is just a trace of what is to come from the young starlet in 2003.

On May 2, Duff will star in "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," based on her hit Disney Channel show. Offscreen, she is behind the soundtrack's first single, "Why Not," and is busy recording her proper debut album.

"I'm getting ready to work with the Matrix, who actually wrote a couple of songs for my album, so I'm very excited about that," Duff said of the hot production team (see "Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne Fall Into The Matrix") speaking from Saturday's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

Duff is also working with one of the producers behind Madonna's Music as well as her sister Haylie, who appeared on Duff's 2002 holiday album, Santa Claus Lane.

Titled Metamorphosis, the record is due in August or September, according to Duff. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" soundtrack will hit shelves on April 22.

Along with recording, Duff is also shooting her next movie, a remake of the 1950 comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen," starring Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Tom Welling and Piper Perabo.

"It's about having 12 kids and ... it just kind of shows like how they live and how the parents deal with having so many kids."

After that, Duff will make "The Cinderella Story," which has been described as a cross between "Cinderella" and "Clueless."

Duff will appear April 21 on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to promote "The Lizzie McGuire Movie."
