My husband and I were talking about Leave it to Beaver today when he mentioned that Ward had been a Navy SEAL. I just did several web searches and came up with nothing to support that. He says that if I were paying attention to the show, I would have seen it come up in several episodes. So, who's the expert around here? Was Ward a SEAL or is my husband just pulling my leg?

Ward was an engineer in the Seabees during World War II.

Beaver asked Ward if he ever called someone a bad name.
Ward replied that he had probably called someone a bad name during his time as a Navy Seal. |

The only mentions that I have heard in the series about Ward was that he was with the Seabees. There was the episode when Beaver was writing the paper for school. He askes the father if he was involved with any fighting in the war (World War II) and Ward explains that the work he was involved with was making the landing areas for the planes that would come later.
