Does anyone know if Hugh Beaumont was an ordained minister? My husband says he was, I say he is confused with Mr. Rodgers. Anyone know?

Hugh Beaumont was in fact in ordained minister, and he returned to being a pastor shortly after Leave it to Beaver ended.

In Jerry Mather's book, he indicates also that Hugh Beaumont originally got into show business to supplement his income because he was minister in a very poor parish. Apparently, Beaumont started doing radio commercials.

In the "World according to Beaver" book from 1984 by Irwyn Applebaum it says that High Beaumont (1909-1982) was a Methodist lay preacher, who had performed in alot of religious films. Jerry Mathers (pre-Beaver) appeared in one of them and apparently had trouble crying on cue. See his dilemma, Beaumont suggested that he bury his head in his hand and laugh, which would produce the same sound as crying. Problem solved.
