Default Rank each season

Let's rank each season of A Different World from your most favorite season to your least favorite season.

1) Season 1
2) Season 4
3) Season 6
4) Season 3
5) Season 5
6) Season 2

In most sitcoms I like the first season the best. This shows parent show "The Cosby Show" is the best example. I feel a show it is at its best at it's infenous before it becomes a hit and writers become complaset. Especially the early episodes, I love the background music of popular songs used in a lot of the scences, the recurring characters one of them played by Kim Wayans, the writing was excellent and I thought former SNL writer Anne Beats did a great job

Season 4, the writing was excellent. I thought Whitley and Dwayne were hilarous as a couple. Some of my favorites are The Valentines episode when Whitley makes a men of Hillman calender and in the end Dwayne is in the calender but over someone else's body, in that same episode Ron has to many dates and one of them is played by Halle Barry. The episode when Dwayne and Whitley were partners in a quiz show and the episode when Juilan returned and in the end Dwayne pretends to have to think about his relationship with Whitley in order to watch a game.

Season 6, the episode where they spoofed the presidental election and the roles of men and women were reversed. Also the thanksgiving episode when both Whitley and Dwayne's mother comes over, and no one can get along.

Season 2, it is my least favorite season, though it is not that bad, but one season has to come in last, here the show is going through a major transaction, new characters were added, and roles for returning characters were changing, the show seemed lost in my opinion, it took a year for it to refind itself.

1.Season 5
2.Season 4
3.Season 6
4.Season 3
5.Season 2
6.Season 1

I feel for the most part like ADW got better and better from how it began. I don't dislike the first season as much as I used to, but I still feel the series grew so much after it.

I picked season 5 as my favorite mainly because of the Kinu/Dwayne/Whitley/Byron storyline, but also they had strong episodes with "Love Taps", where Gina was abused by her boyfriend, "To Tell The Truth" where Dwayne and Whitley's mothers meet for the first time and also that's the season we see jada Pinkett's character for the first time. It dropped off a little in season 6, but I still enjoyed the show and liked the new characters. The episodes where they staged a mock trial for Terrell and the fantasy episode when the women were running the country were my favorites. Basically, no offense to her, because I do like her, but I didn't miss Lisa Bonet after she left. Debbie Allen came along and made that show great, I give all props to her.

The first season just sucked, period!!!

Afterwards the show just got better every season. I liked how it just kept evolving. I believe they could have survive with the new characters if Dwayne and Whitley had left. The show was just that good, IMO!

I find year one boring. Unlike the other years these episodes are only good to watch once. There is nothing there that stands up to multiple viewings. Year 2 is decent, but something takes off in year 3 and it gets better and better after that. I think they found their focus with the Dwayne Whitley relationship. In year 2 there is no main focus, it was a bit too sprawling.

I like that they really have this whole history to the show. It's fascinating to watch an episode in say season 5 and hear them refer to some incident from season 3. They were very consistent. For that reason I rate years 5 and 6 as my favorites followed by 4, 3, 2 and 1, but one is way way below one.

While ADW gets better as it goes along I think its parent show went in the other direction. While I enjoy Cosby Show up to the end the first 2 years are WAY better than the others and it gradually slides off in every season after this.

I agree! Cosby was smart too end his show while it was at least still watchable!
