Exclamation Diff'rent Strokes on Nick-at-Nite comments

I can't believe how much I've actually missed Diff'rent Strokes until now when it's coming back on. I just visited the Diff'rent Strokes section here on Sitcoms Online and was looking at the pictures and that's when it struck me. It should be great to see this show again--I can't wait. All I can say is that this is a wise move by Nick-at-Nite. I'm just surprised no other network picked this show up until now. One final thought, wouldn't it be funny if Diff'rent Strokes went head to head with the Facts of Life on Make Your Own Sunday?! It'd be very interesting to see who'd win.

If Make Your Own Sunday was fair, I'd say the Facts of Life would probably have the upper hand, one reason because of the amount of fans at the Facts of Life board--but then again you have to consider Diff'rent Strokes is new to the lineup so more people may be interested. But I agree, Make Your Own Sunday does seem a little rigged at times but still it always seems to be pretty good.

Nah! I think Different Strokes would have the upper hand. Jo may be popular, but everybody knows who Arnold is. I'll admit FOL is strong, but Different Strokes would come out on top. The show was too good. Most of you haven't seen it yet.

About the MYOS comment, it is going to be interesting when they go head-to-head. I'm sure it'll be fun to see which one comes out on top.
And i'm really happy it's coming on N@N, cause I havent seen it in years, so it'll be nice to see it again.
way cool.
ThomasE-Time will tell if the 'Facts' is still on top, and despite Jo's popularity, most of the posters over at the 'facts' board have not seen DS yet, so they can't make a fair judgement. So time will only tell...

It should be a good battle. I guess we'll have to wait and see, though. I still think the Facts of Life might have the upper hand for a while. It'll really be a toss-up week after week--or how ever long Make your Own Sunday goes on. I'm partial in this one! This is not like comparing The Facts of Life and a one year wonder. These are two top notch shows, which of course everyone already knows. It should be good. I'll skip visiting the message boards for these two shows that night! It could get ugly! I agree with you that everyone knows who Arnold is. They DO have that going for them. Again, you're right, ThomasE, most people haven't seen Diff'rent Strokes yet, or for a while(like me) but once people do, it'll be just as popular, maybe even more popular than the Facts of Life. I don't want the whole Facts of Life board against me for saying that but it might just happen! I forgot to mention, to Sarah Lynn, this message board only has a few posts a day because Diff'rent Strokes is not on right now. As soon as people watch it, there will be a ton of more posts, in my opinion. That was how the Facts of Life board used to be.

Let the Games Begin!

I agree that DS is gonna show a resurgance in popularity that most people didn't expect (even I was shocked at just how big the FOL fanbase got when Nick added the show), but I will admit I dunno if a lot of the new DS fans will be as fanatic about the cast as some FOL-ers are with Nancy McKeon and the like. The bad thing is that most people under 16/17 ONLY know about the tragedies surrounding the show (mainly Todd Bridges and Dana Plato). So FOL seemed to be a "happier" story.

The good thing is that people will finally see Gary Coleman in a good light again. I really hate how people forget that at his height, only Alan Alda (off Mash) and Bill Cosby (Cosby Show premiered toward the last few years of DS's run) were making more money per episode of their tv shows, yet people treat Gary like he was just some minor child actor who had success and faded away. Gary made the whole world laugh, from those who were 3-4 like I was at the time to my parents who were in their late 30's/early 40's and beyond. The best part about DS coming back to tv is that people might start cutting some slack for him when they rediscover Arnold instead of thinking of him as a self-parody abusive security guard who had an online auction of his stuff and professed his virginity.

I wonder if Gary will rethink his "no more Diff'rent Strokes" stance now once he finds it resurging his name the way Lisa Whelchel and Nancy McKeon's careers have been higher-profile of late when Nick did the same thing to FOL six months ago (yes I know Nancy's done tv movies for awhile, but now she has a bigger fanbase since people realize that great tv movie actress was also Jo).

I love FOL, but I gotta give the upper hand to Diff'rent Strokes, at least in the beginning. It is just as good as FOL, and it's been away for a while. Then, after 2 or 3 months, things'll start to balance out again. Who knows though, MYOS may not have DS and FOL going up against each other ever!

I agree that DS will have the upper hand for the first few months, just like FOL did. DS is in the same position as FOL was a few months ago. It is a classic show from the 80's that most people haven't seen in YEARS (yea, I know Facts was on USA, but at 8:30 am?) and it will easily stomp the competition for the first few months it's on MYOS because the show has been missed that much that people are really excited to see it back.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if they place the "Garrett's Girls" episode of DS against an episode like "Rough Housing" or "The New Girl" of FOL which had the cast of DS on it. LOL. I do bet the DS episode would win out tho because FOL and DS fans both wanna see that episode.

If we see Diff'rent Strokes, Facts of Life, and Three's Company going head to head to head on MYOS. I don't know who would win! TC and FOL are by far the popular shows right now...DS will be in the Top 3 when it comes as well.

Lets just remember where Facts of Life came from. Ds is founder of the Facts of life, lets be honest Everyone knows the "whacha ya talking about willis" phrase. There are DS eps. that top Facts of Life eps. There alot of new Facts of life very young fans on FOL message board now that haven't caught eps. of Diff'rent Strokes they're gonna witness off hand that the eps. where arnold and kimberly hitch hike or the one where arnold and dudley have boose/donuts are better than any facts of Life eps. how much i love the Facts of Life and i tape them too. But DS is a better show just slightly better, cause Facts is an awesome show. I will definately tape the DS eps. But head are up because N@N has brought back the greatest one-two punch in NBC history.

DS will be a good battle for FOL.. but Three's Company is really Nick at Nite's highest rated show..

Personally, I would always vote DS over FOL since FOL episodes have been shown over and over so many times and DS has never been shown on cable..

DS Online is really right there with FOL Online in terms of visitors, but I expect DS to take over the lead once it is on Nick at Nite (granted it is really the only source of DS info anywhere)..

Hey TJ, where to you find information about ratings and all that? It surprised me to find that Three's Company was #1. Considering how many people who are posting over at the FOL message board...

Hey John, I liked what you said:

"Wouldn't it be hilarious if they place the "Garrett's Girls" episode of DS against an episode like "Rough Housing" or "The New Girl" of FOL which had the cast of DS on it. LOL. I do bet the DS episode would win out tho because FOL and DS fans both wanna see that episode."

I would place my vote for DS. When FOL premiered on NAN, it attracted a large audience, DS has the ability to do the same.
