Was the replAcement of the former neighbor a bad or good decision at the start of the 1976-77 TV season?

Very bad move. Not every sitcom needs a wacky neighbor and the premises of ODAT was not appropriate for it. Schneider made up for it. I found Mary Louise Wilson's character too overbearing. A female Paul Lynde.
