Post I was just wondering what y'all thought about

Hi yall!

I was just wondering what yall thought of that Leave it to Beaver movie they did about 3 years ago.

Personally the movie was not good in my opinion. The good thing about the movie was that some of the actors from the show had cameo roles in the movie. I just thought that the actors that they got to be in the movie were not as good as the actors on the tv show.

Jenny,I did not see that movie and never will.Movies based on old TV shows just don't cut it!!!!

There are some shows that are the products of a certain place and time-and cannot be successfuly updated.Leave It To Beaver was a special show for children to see, with situations that any child could relate to.It deserves a cherrished place in the memories of those who loved it-not a revamped version with a bunch of Cleaver-wannabes.

RJRANE:

I see what your saying about how all the new revamped movies to old shows do not add up. When I saw the movie "Leave it to Beaver" I thought that it was the worst movie I had ever seen.

I am such a fan of the tv show and just watching the movie I thought why couldn't they let the show Rest in Peace.

I am also a fan of the tv show My Favorite Martian and when they did the movie back in 1999 and heard how awful the movie was I didn't even want to see it.

I liked it. I watch it when it comes on Disney or something.

I actually liked it too. It is certainly wierd seeing these familiar characters being portrayed by other people- its sorta like seeing a movie adapted to a stage play. I thought the spirit of the movie was very much in the tradition of the original series as well as the 80s New Beaver show. In some ways it was an exaggerated version of the show, but in some ways it was really true to the characters of Ward and Beaver- the story was really about them. The comedy was stretched almost into slapstick, but not to the point of being stupid.

I thought the casting in particular was very good.

The production quality was very good- it did seem like being in Mayfield again. I also really liked the score- the original Beaver theme was incorporated into the new themes very nicely.

Even if you don't care for it, we can all be glad that it wasn't a parody of the original series ala' Brady Bunch, etc. THAT would have been an insulting travesty.

In my mind, I see one of Beaver's sons (probably Olliver if you are familiar with the NLITB) growing up to be a screenwriter and selling a script based on the stories of his father's childhood- this would be the resulting movie.

I didn't like it either. I feel that if Hollywood wants to remake "classic TV shows" then they should make it as classic as humanly possible. We all know that technology is so incredible that I see no reason why they couldn't make it extremely realistic and by that I mean, scenery, props, costumes, dialogue and stunts. They should even try to cast people who look as close as possible to the original cast members or try their best to do it with the make up. If they would have done all that it probably would have been a huge hit.

I have to agree... the kid who played Beaver in the movie was cute, but heck, there are a lot of cute kids out there, doesn't mean they can act... Jerry Mathers was a great actor as a young child...

We did rent the move, out of curiosity, and not expecting anything much... and that's what we got, nothing much...

Now, I can see why people like the movie...but I find it hard to imagine liking this movie if you grew up watching the original Leave it to Beaver... Leave it to Beaver belongs in a certain time, and that time is past.

Just like the Little Rascals...great films in the '20s and 30's... but what an awful movie.... giving a kid a "cowlick" hairdo doesn't automatically make him Alfalfa....and putting a derby on a black kid doesn't mean he'll turn into Stymie... the original Rascals had a little thing called "talent"

I,too, like this movie. Eddie is my favorite character in the show and the guy who plays him in the movie just cracks me up! I also (before I found out his real name) wondered if he was Ken Osmond's son in real life. I thought he looked like he could be one of his sons. I actually think they did a good job with the "Eddie" roles all together. (Eddie Sr. and Eddie Jr.) Also,it's fun to see Barbara and Ken in it!
