What a BABE!
If she had not passed away, I would love
to meet her.But weren't they all so
unique!

Miss Landers was attractive, alright. She was also wise and a very understanding teacher. No wonder Beaver thought highly of her.

Yes, Sue Randall, the actress who played Miss Landers, was very beautiful...I don't blame Beaver at all for having such a major crush on her...

btw, fyi -- I recently watched a tape of "Desk Set", a 1957 Spencer Tracy - Katherine Hepburn movie...excellent flick...one of the secretaries in the company where Hepburn worked looked familiar, and it took me a few minutes to place her...but sure enough, it was none other than Miss Landers herself...if you get a chance to see this movie, check it out...it's a great movie, and "Miss Landers" makes it even better :-)

Unfortunately, I believe Randall passed away sometime in the mid 80's of cancer...maybe 85 or 86...I think I read that on one of the postings on this site...but, wow, you're absolutely right, she was gorgeous!! Who WOULDN'T have had a crush on her??

Yes in fact, Sue Randall was a heavy smoker throughout her life, and it finally caught up with her. I remember someone saying on the LITB Mail-list that they contacted her about a week before she died, and she no longer had that sweet voice we hear on the show, but it was much more gravelly, and she was hard to understand. He was quite shocked to hear this woman that we all knew as Miss Landers, sound so sickly and ill. Sadly, she succomed to the cancer.

It's sad she had to go like that. I didn't know she was a heavy smoker. It's tragic though what the effects of cigarettes can do to you

It's really sad sometimes to hear what happened to the people we liked so much on TV and in movies...I remember she died of cancer, but it must have been such a let-down for that person who talked to her only a week before she passed away...such a sad end for such a beautiful lady...

Also btw - I happened to turn on a "Twilight Zone" episode this morning (Jan 1, I think it aired ab. 9:30 or 10:00 am EST, during a TZone marathon), and I happened to catch an episode called "And When the Sky was Opened", originally telecast in December of 1959, and Miss Landers played a nurse in that episode...and she was just as beautiful as ever :-)

Concerning MISS Landers: One, I hereby make a motion that the moderator of this site change the title of this thread to reflect that MISS Landers was *always* addressed as MISS, not MS. I have nothing against the use of "Ms." nowadays, but, to be faithful to the show, its times and attendant spirit, we should refer to her as "Miss." All those opposed or against, please indicate.

Two, it was quite exciting to see Miss Landers in her tennis whites yesterday! Are there any other innocent cheesecake episodes, either with Miss Landers or objects of Wally's budding, um, awareness? If so, please respond with approximate episode numbers, characters in question, and description of character's outfit.

Many thanks.

agree with you 100% after having several members of my family including both of my parents die of cancer due to their smoking habits. I remember seeing a picture of Desi Arnaz taken weeks just before he died of lung cancer-the picture alone was enough right there for me not wanting to take up the habit.

However back in the 50s when Beaver, Lucy, Honeymooners ( Jackie Gleason was a heavy smoker too ), smoking was the cool thing to do, my parents once told me that back in the 1950s and 1960s when 70% of adults smoked, if you were offered a cigar/ cigarette and turned it down that was considered "very rude".

What saddens me is the return of cigarettes and cigars being "in".
With so many of todays stars smoking cigarettes and even cigars
even on tv and in the movies. I even saw the actor who played Doogie Howser ( Neil Patrick Harris ) on tv just last night taking deep drags off a Marlboro Light and not too long ago I saw an interview with A.J. McLean from the Backstreet Boys and he must've went through at least a half pack during the MuchMusic interview.

I just hope that today's kids dont pick up the habit because Ben Afflick ( who I heard is a very heavy smoker ), Kid Rock or whoever enjoys their cigar and cigarettes.

Sue Randall was in fact quite young when she died. She was born in 1935, and died in 1984, so that made her only 49 when she died.

Sue Randall was also in another episode of The Twilight Zone titled: From Agnes With Love (1964).

She was in quite a few shows from the early 60's; happy to post them if anyone is interested.
