Guys,
For either cable or syndicate offerings. What sitcom is most severely edited now. If I had to pick a #1 choice it would be The Brady Bunch and #2 would be Gilligan's Island. Jack |

I believe it's "I Love Lucy", simply because there were fewer commercials in the 50s than in the 60s or 70s (unedited ILLs run around 26 minutes without commercials). Nowadays, ILL is edited to run as a 20-minute show with 10 minutes of commercials. So more than 5 minutes winds up on the floor for some episodes. It has been said that Lucille Ball herself couldn't stand to watch the show in syndication because of all the cuts.

a 3o-minute show originally ran for 26 minutes in the 70s, so "I Love Lucy" probably originally ran for 28 minutes. The same for "The Honeymooners". I saw an interview on some special once, with Nanette Fabray (she's a comedian, all you "young bucks" outt there!!
)talking about "Ceasars Hour" (a variety show she did in the fifties) and she was saying how it was 90 minutes long, and there was only 3, 15 second commercial breaks-one every half hour!!
