TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, starring Roma Downey, Della Reese, John Dye and Valerie Bertinelli, now in its ninth season, concludes with a special two-part series finale as it is judgment day for Monica (Downey), who is up for review and facing her most challenging mission yet, Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT, both nights) on the CBS Television Network. Larry Peerce directed both episodes written by Executive Producers Martha Williamson and Burt Pearl along with Luke Schelhaas.

In the two-part series finale, Monica is up for career review and a possible promotion as she embarks upon what will become her very last and most challenging mission. As she journeys into Ascension, a town recovering from a tragedy, Monica encounters a mysterious drifter named Zack (guest star Scott Bairstow, "Wolf Lake"). When they arrive in town, they learn that a devastating accident had occurred there a year ago, killing almost all of Ascension’s children and leaving behind a deeply scarred community. Zack is recognized from the day of the accident and suddenly the town has a focus for its anger. The townspeople quickly turn against him and demand that he be tried for the murder of their children.

When the case against Zack goes to trial and the circumstantial evidence against him piles up, threats are made against his life and he is then placed in protective custody. Monica finds herself conflicted over how much she is willing to sacrifice to help this man in need and is forced to make the most monumental choice of her career.

Guest stars returning to TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL for the series finale include Academy Award and multiple Emmy Award-winner Patty Duke ("The Miracle Worker"), Emmy Award-nominee Marion Ross ("Happy Days") and Grammy Award-winner Randy Travis, who makes his sixth appearance on the show. Academy Award and multiple Emmy Award-winner Cloris Leachman ("Mary Tyler Moore") reprises her role of the Angel Ruth, Emmy Award-winner Paul Winfield ("Picket Fences") reprises his role of the Angel Sam and Charles Rocket ("Flying Blind") reprises his role of the Angel Adam. Additional guest stars include Patrick Duffy ("Dallas"), David Ogden Stiers ("M*A*S*H") and William Mapother ("In the Bedroom").

TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, which premiered on September 21, 1994, follows four angels dispatched from heaven to inspire people at a crossroads in their lives. Monica (Downey), an angel who at times still needs some guidance with her earthly assignments, reports to Tess (Reese), her tough, wise and always loving supervisor. Also on hand is Andrew (Dye), who in addition to his duties as the Angel of Death, now helps out as a caseworker on various assignments. Gloria (Bertinelli), an angel for the 21st century, continues to seek guidance from Monica on how to perform her angelic duties. While the angels may not bring answers to every problem, they always deliver a message of hope.

I just watched the show's finale tonight, and I must say, it's pretty sad to see such a heart-warming show like that come to an end. Well, I guess it's not really "over" since we can still look forward to continuing seeing the reruns on Hallmark (and I admit that there's still a good number of eps I haven't seen).

This one of my favorite episodes. I love how Monica meets God in the end.
