This is really off topic, but does snyone her like the Cure. I'm really getting into them for some reason. Still hardcore skate punk but expanding my love for the eighties.

I like the Cure. I like "Killing an Arab", a song which caused controversy because most MTV trendoids and PC types weren't up on Albert Camus, and "Charlotte Sometimes," and especially "Just Like Heaven", "In Between Days," "Wish", "Love Cats", and "Why Can't I Be You." "Friday I'm In Love" is good. Oh yeah, of course,"Let's Go to Bed." "Fascination Street." "Close to Me" is okay, but there is one version of it I like with horns. (Are there two?) People say they're Goth, but not exactly.

I've heard of them, but never heard their music. Should I download some of their songs?

I like some songs by The Cure, but I had a hard time getting used to his voice.

I love the Cure! Great, dark, atmospheric music! And Miss Karly, along with the songs that Captain Ablairica mentioned, and if you like scary music, you should check out "Lament", "The Holy Hour", "Faith", and "Other Voices", among others. I like these songs for the atmosphere and the prominent bass lines.
I never really thought of the Cure as depressing like some people do. Pleasantly scary perhaps, but their music never depressed me! |

I remember liking the Cure ever since I was a wee little tike. I got some Cure songs on my computer now--still working on downloading more for my collection. I've listened to several of their CDs because I have some cool friends who own them. They are definitely awesome, and I've always found them to be far too under-appreciated. I also feel like Sterling Holobyte--not depressing to me. Pleasantly scary is a great description.

*bumping an old thread here
I am a diehard fan of The Cure. Since I was a kid, I have been listening to their music. My dad used to play their "Disintegration" album (one of their most popular albums) on cassette tape almost all the time. I only knew songs of theirs from that album until I got older and started collecting CD's and got access to the internet. I introduced myself to more of their music from the rest of the albums they've released in their 30+ year career. The latter part of their image is "goth" to some, but their genre of music is alternative, as they never stick to one particular genre. Their songs range from being dark to gloomy to cheery to silly and everything in between. Their most popular albums include "Disintegration", "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me", "Pornography", "Wish" and "Faith". Their hits include "Just Like Heaven", "Boys Don't Cry", "Pictures Of You", "Lovesong", "Lullaby", "Friday I'm In Love" and more. If you like "goth" groups who sing just about anything in any particular genre, The Cure is your band.
