Arrow Lucy & Desi divorce

Why did Lucy and Desi get divorced in 1960?
I know that Lucy got remarried to this guy named Gary Morton, (who ever that is). it just seemed after the divorce, Desi just fell out of the light. i didnt hear much about him after the divorce. I dont think they ever should have had a divorce, they were TV's favorite couple. O well history is history

they divorced because there jobs were going in different directions and they were never together. After the divorced they stilll loved each other very much.

I don't think you should use that to judge his response to this.

They divorced for many reasons. Desi's drinking, his womanizing, his and her need to be work-a-holics, their differences in lifestyle, etc. It's very well known that they came from vastly different backgrounds, and this later attributed to their split. He was impulsive, she was not. He was often jealous that she was the big name in the family and he was always "Lucy's Husband." His Latin pride often got in the way of her headstrong ways. Love alone cannot save a marriage, and that was about all they had left.

BTW, Gary Morton was a comedian. Not a well known one (he was no Jerry Lewis or anything), but a comedian nonetheless.

No, they divorced because Lucy was tired of his philandering/running around with other women and his drunkedness!

Well i cant imagine breaking up because of jobs. many husbands and wives have job conflicts and are sorted out. dawsengirls reason makes a little more sense.

the real reason lucy and desi divorced was because desi was a terrible huseband! he cheated on lucy constantly with no good hookers! he chased everything in heals. in cuba if a man is loyal to his wife and doesnt cheat on her, he is considered very less of a man. desi was also a alcholic. he would fall down drunk in the streets. lucy couldnt take it anymore so she dumped him

Exactly! They were both at fault, as is usually the case. Desi tended to act out his dark side in more public ways, while Lucy kept it at home and could make the home life tense. Lucy was no angel. She could be very difficult to live with. I think her need to be in total control of her environment and everyone and everything in it (including Desi) drove him to do some of the things he did. That's not to excuse him for any of his bad behavior, though. He did cause a lot of damage. But still, living with Lucy wasn't the easiest thing in the world.

Guys, I don't think it's possible to pinpoint one reason why a couple gets divorced. Maybe they'd been driving each other crazy for years, maybe all of the rumors were just rumors. You can't say what the problem was unless you were one of the people involved. A couple can have so many secrets that they never share, so I don't think we can judge what it was. Sometimes divorce just happens, and usually it's for the best. Just my two cents.
