"Touched by an Angel" co-star Valerie Bertinelli is set to star as Peter MacNicol's wife in CBS' comedy pilot "Crazylove," while Oscar winner Cloris Leachman has been tapped to play his mom. Meanwhile, Laura Harris -- hot off Fox's "24" -- has joined Showtime's series "Dead Like Me" as a regular. Over at NBC, Paul Dooley and Susan Diol have joined Tom Selleck in NBC's comedy pilot "Touch 'Em All McCall." In other casting news, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Patrick Fabian, Heath Hyche and Desmond Askew have been cast in Fox's comedy pilot "Jack's House."
Fox Broadcasting Co. got an early start on series orders for the 2003-04 season, giving 13-episode pickups to two very different drama projects: the reality-bending dramedy "Wonder Falls" and the youthful serial "The O.C." "Wonder Falls," created and executive produced by Todd Holland and Bryan Fuller for 20th Century Fox TV and Regency TV, has been described by Holland and Fuller as "Touched By a Crazy Person." The series revolves around a Niagara Falls souvenir shop worker, played by Caroline Dhavernas, whose life is forever changed when she has a nervous breakdown and finds that inanimate animal figures -- plush toys, ceramic figurines, cartoon characters, etc. -- are communicating with her. The cryptic messages she receives from her not-so-furry friends lead her to endeavor to help those in need. "The O.C.," created by Josh Schwartz for Warner Bros. Television, is a fast-paced coming-of-age soap set in the affluent and status-conscious world of Newport Beach, Calif. The series is executive produced by Schwartz, McG, Dave Bartis and Doug Liman, who directed the pilot. |

"The Job" alumnus Lenny Clarke has joined the cast of an untitled ABC comedy pilot about a young man from a conservative family who falls in love with the daughter of a gay couple.
Clarke will play the boy's father, an Irish-American pub owner and staunch Republican. Clarke most recently reunited with his "Job" co-star Denis Leary in Comedy Central's spoof "Contest Searchlight." Meanwhile, comedian Todd Stashwick rounds out the ensemble cast of another ABC comedy pilot, Tim Allen 's "These Guys." Allen narrates the misadventures of four men (Patrick Warburton , Currie Graham, Jsu Garcia, Stashwick) facing marriage, parenthood, divorce and dating. Stashwick, who has guested on such series as "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Will & Grace," will play the quartet's moral compass, a happily married man. Reuters/VNU |

With all these pilot orders, it will be interesting how many will make the Fall Schedule and how many will make it a full season.
