Lightbulb My Top Ten Different World Episodes! (What's yours?!?)

I grew up watching 'A Different World'. As a matter of fact, I can quote from any episode. My sister and I absolutely love this series and watch...and tape all reruns. (I can't wait for the season DVDs). These are my all-time Top 10 favorite 'Different World' episodes.

10. Deon, Gina's abusive boyfriend, comes back and tries to rekindle a romance with her.

9. Whitley calls Montel and the girls take her for a night out. Freddie admits to Kim that she's been "kissing Ron."

Freddie: "I've kissed him like, twice."

8. The storm where Ron and Freddie are stuck in the radio station together and they have sex.

7. Kim gives up her scholarship because Orange Glow has not divested from South Africa.

6. Dwayne goes with Walter to recruit a high school basketball player and all he can think about/and see is Whitley.

5. Tisha Campbell guest stars as a student that admits she has A.I.D.S.

Mr.Gaines: "...take you money and you intelligence deficency syndrome..."

4. Freddie sees someone getting beat by their boyfriend. GIna has a black eye.

Whitley: "You're right. I do have someone who is there for me...Her name is Whitley."

3. Whitley gets ride of Kenu.

2. The last 2 episodes. Dwayne/Ron fighting over the Grammer Boy idea. Whitley finds out she is pregnaunt. They are moving to Japan. The mother in laws get drunk.

Whitley: "Hilman will always be in our hearts." "Off to a Different World"

and DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!

My number one all time favorite episode has and will always be....

1. The Wedding Episodes. From the Bachelor parties to Dwayne stealing Whitley out of Byron's arms.

'A Different World' was classic TV. How could you not LOVE IT!!!

Wow, that's a pretty impressive list!

I'm a big fan of ADW, and there were lots of great episodes, but I would probably have trouble thinking up of 10 different ones, let alone the 10 best ever!

Anyways, I also noticed you mentioned something about the show coming to DVD. Is that confirmed?

Sad Different World on DVD?!?

I didn't say that they were coming to DVD, but said that I could not wait for them too. I don't see why they shouldn't. They have Good Times, The Jeffersons, All in the Family, Buffy, Friends, 24, and all other kinds of shows. Why not Different World!

I do not like season 1 as well as the others. I think that the show went uphill as soon as they got rid of Lisa Bonet.

5. The one when Dwayne and Ron get in a fight with the people who painted the N word on Ron's car.

4. The episode when Dwayne and Whitley break off the engagement. Their mothers get into a fight also.

3. The episode when Whitley's cousin comes to visit. Played also by Jasmine Guy.

2. The one where Dwayne asks Whitley to marry him.

1. The one where Kim is pledging and Whitley is the leader.

I also love the one with Josie (Tisha Campbell) has HIV and Dwayne and Whit contemplate doing it..............the wedding...........and the ones where Gina is being abused........ I (LIKE ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE) HATE THE 1ST SEASON AND PART OF THE SECOND.. THE SHOW GETS GOOD WHEN DENISE LEAVES

I'm sorry but I love season one. List Bonet could have fit into the mix. She was good, but the format was just so pale during season one. Lisa could have done more to make her character work if you ask me. She was 19 and not mature enough to handle things. I wished we would have found out what had happened to Maggie and Millie as well.

Season one is one of my favorites. Most shows I love the first season. As much as I like Lisa Bonet, a bigger key was the writing. It was great. I thought Producer Anne Beats one of the original writers on Saturday Night Live and creator of Square Peggs, did a great job. Why did she leave show? Was she fired or did she quit. I am sure she was the person responsible for the use of popular music in the background of many of the scences, one of the things I love about the first season.

TV Junkie, I'm like you! I absolutely LOVED A Different World when they got rid of "Denise" a.k.a. Lisa Bonet! I don't watch the reruns when they show season 1! Also, Ron and Freddie didn't have sex in the radio station during that storm... they were kissing, and when the storm had passed they were talking about never telling anyone that they had kissed (except everybody knew anyways b/c they were on the air while Freddie and Ron were talking)!

Anyways, my favorites are:
10) When Lina's friends came from Baltimore, and Dorian and Piccolo got into a fight at the club!

9) When Gina placed a sign on Charmaine's back in math class, and they had a trial to see who had actually committed the "crime"!

8) When Whitley had the art exhibit w/the Aunt Jamima dolls, and Kim didn't want Whitley to have those paintings/dolls on display b/c she felt they were insulting!

7) When Kim started singing in Ron's band, and she let all the fame go to her head! Then she came in the club w/that TERRIBLE wig on, and started telling her "life story" !!!!

6) When Freddie and Ron started wanting each other, and they were flirting then Kim came into the room! Freddie yelled, "I was just about to make some hot.... CAKES... hotcakes!" Then Shazah came out of the room!

5) When they went on their spring break vacation, and the two guys wanted to kill Dewayne and Ron for messing w/that bag full of drugs!

4) When they had to stay in The Pit b/c of the storm! It was TOO funny when Jaleesa got drunk!

3) When Whitley and Dewayne's apartment got broken into!

2) When Gina was getting beat by her boyfriend, Deion!

1) The wedding episodes!

I haven't seen this show in a long time but i do remember some episodes.

1- One where Denise was supposed to put in a check or something for Jaleesa and it bounced

2- When Maddie (Mary Alice) first came on

3- The one where Freddie was almost raped by the jock and Dwayne put the beatdown on him from the top of the car

4- The One where Clair Huxtable came to Hillman doing interviews and Freddie found that secret slave room on campus

5- The episode where Lena almost burns the dorm down

6- The episode where Kim was so worried about a test or something taht she kept having these weird dreams

7- The two-parter where Dwayne and Whitley honeymooned in L.A.- right in the middle of the Riots

That's about all I can remember.

I'm sure if I sat and took some time I could come up with a decent list but off the top of my head, the wedding episode is probably my favorite. I still remember my reaction from seeing its first airing when it was still on in prime time. I didn't see it coming that Dwayne would stop it or that Whitley would leave Byron cold like that. It was cool.
