I was at best buy this past weekend and I found a 2 DVD set of classic commercials from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I was watching one when they showed an old beer commercial from 1974 and I saw a guy that looked familiar in a kind of background role and I realized it was Tony Dow. He had about a line or 2. He was ribbing some guy who lost a log rolling contest with some other guys and they guy goes in and gets a huge tub of iced down beer and they all have one. Tony looked about the same as he did in his Beaver days but he had on a flannel shirt and jeans and had longish looking hair. Just thought you would be interested. Best Buy has a lot of great stuff including clasic tv shows on DVD (except Beaver). I also picked up a 2 DVD set for 10 bucks of Ozzie & Harriet which contained 10 early 60's episodes. I was kinda dissapointed in a way because the company who made the DVD's must of used some rough coppies of the show and some of the shows had some lines etc, but they were still pretty good. The commercial DVD's has some great commercials, some of which has aired on TVLand.

Ha! That's pretty funny. I believe Ken Osmond and Barbara Billingsley were in a McDonalds commercial in the early 80s. I wish I could find that one!

I honestly remember that commercial from when I was a kid, because I noticed the guy looked like Wally Cleaver with long bushy hair, and it definitely sounded like his voice. In fact, I think I still remember that after one guy fell off his log, that Tony called him Jeff and said he has to buy the beers.

They have old commercials on DVD? That's pretty cool. Well, I don't have a DVD player yet, but when we do get one I'll be getting a lot of DVDs. Speaking of old commercials, our family sort of "accidently" has old commercials on VHS. Well, in the mid to late 80's when we bought our first VCR we we record tons of movies that were on TV. Well, sometimes we didn't take out the commericials, so when we're watching old movies on our tapes we can see all old commercials from like 10 or 15 years ago. They're pretty fun to watch. I just wonder when we get our DVD player- what will happen to our large collections of VHS tapes? Or all the VHS tapes in the world? I'm sure DVD's will eventually totally overtake VHS. There will be on giant landfill of all old VHS tapes! OK, that was stupid. Bye!

I remember seeing Tony Dow on an episode of Adam-12 when I was younger and he was talking to those cops and lighting up a cigarette, which I thought was odd for "Wally". Then I read later that Tony Dow found it so hard to get parts because he was so typecast as clean-cut Wally, so having a smoke must have been a way to get "cool cred"...

"What are you trying to do, give us a bad name? You ought to be ashamed. Drinking. And on TV! What will the neighbors say? This is going to come as quite a shock to your father."

JUNE: Ward, I'm worried about Wally.
WARD: What? I was expecting you to say the Beaver. JUNE: Do you know what your son's been doing? WARD: What? JUNE: Drinking beer...ON TELEVISION! WARD: WHAT!?! Why I oughta!
