Default They should have continued after Dorothy left!

Instead of making a spin-off with Sophia,Blanche & Rose. They could have kept the original set.. & they could have added another New Golden girl (maybe Aunt Angela) who had a good chemistry with the cast.It would be new & kinda hard getting used to without Dorothy but it good have lasted at least two more years. But also with that big send off with Dorothy in the series finale... it would have seemed kinda strange to have a new season.I think another season with Aunt Angela moving in with them could have been pretty funny... but her & Sophia are so alike. They could have added a spunkier character that was different from Rose,Dorothy,Blanche & Sophia...

I agree with the idea, but it wouldn't have been what we all know as "TGG."

One thing... I know that the woman who played Aunt Angela (and also Rhoda's mother on MTM) passed away. I'm not sure when, so maybe she had died before TGG ended. I dunno...

It wouldn't be the same without Dorothy - she was a big part of the cast. That's one of the reasons Golden Palace was canceled, because Dorothy wasn't there.

It was Nancy Walker. She died in 1992.

The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

They did continue after Dorothy left. They used the house in the pemiere ep but they were leaving it. To me, GP is an another season of GG such as Archice Bunker's Place is a continuation of All in the Family.

I personally would of been very upset if after dorothy left angela moved in. It would seem like thier were two sophias, the reason why everything fit perfectly is because each girl was completely different from the other.

i like your idea Jeff, but Aunt Angela NOOO. She was a Sophia copycat and we need a north pole of the compass, not too souths. I was thinking maybe Gloria, since she was Dorthy's sister. Or even better would've been Rebeca. She was slightly more familar, but not quite Golden. She could've brought her daughter Aurora. The other three girls would have ton of story lines involving her.

Yeah, some of you guys are right, they couldn't have contined without Dorothy. They were so good together with all 4 of them, Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia.

I love TGG very much.
