Default Season 3

Does anyone know if there is a chance that the Third Season of Sanford and Son will be made into a collectors' DVD? Has it been made already?

Hey Fast Fannie,

I'm sorry I really can't help you that much about the season 3 dvds. I'm kind of curious when the S & S and AITF season 3 dvds will be released. I think both dvd sets are doing pretty good sell wise. I don't think the Mary Tyler Moore set sold all that great and I've heard that they canceled releasing the rest of the sets. Not sure if all that is true, but I def. think will be seeing Sanford and Son and AITF out soon.

Can anybody supply a date and maybe a picture of the cover from the next set?

Probably within the next 6 months or so,because that's how long it took Sanford and Son to get the 1st and 2nd seasons on DVD within the next 6 months. Also check out updates on TV Shows on DVD. I know that the Jeffersons 2nd season DVD comes out on May 13th.

Okay, so it is 6 months? I wasn't sure the time period between the AITF and S & S, but I do collect the Buffy dvds and the season 3 set of Buffy came out in January and season 4 comes out in June.

You know it's funny how some dvds get released so quickly. One of my friends was talking about the Star Trek: Next Generation dvds and I think he said that all 7 seasons of that show would be released during this year. I think he said a new season for ST:NG comes out during every month.

How do the episodes look on DVD? I'm behind the times and don't have a DVD player, or I would have bought them already.

The quality is pretty good. I was happy I bought them. Thet dont compare (quality wise) to a new movie, but I am satisfied. I was "behind on the times" also, but when I purchased my DVD player, it made watching movies and Sanford and Son a lot more enjoyable.

Yeah, ditto. I just bought my first dvd player in May 2002. I bought it with my Graduation money. I think it was around 60 bucks. That's not too bad of a price. I thought they were around 200 bucks or something, so when I saw one at 60, I decided to buy it. I just got another dvd player, this time a 50 dollar one, so maybe you could find a good one that's got a pretty fair price, Jimmiegirl.

Anyway, the Sanford and Son dvds look pretty good. I just wished they had some bonus stuff on there. That's the cool thing with dvds, you get bonus stuff. I want to get the Anne of Green Gables movies because I think they have Megan Follows original audition on there. My Buffy dvds have interviews and still galleries and you'd never see that on a vhs tape. Another cool thing is you can watch an episode and not have those minor interruptions like commericials or pop up commericials.

I hope the rest of the seasons come out too. I do feel sorry for the Mary Tyler Moore show fans if that post I made above is true. It's cool when you find out that your show, your favorite show is getting released on dvd and then it just blows when you find out that the dvd isn't selling so great and all the rest of the seasons have been canceled.

Thanks for the replys everyone! I really love having S&S on DVD, for years I've had them on tape, episodes that I taped myself when it was in syndication on a channel in my hometown. But one day one of my favorite episodes got destroyed and I was really upset.

Then I started getting the collector's additons from Columbia House where they send you a tape with four different uncut episodes on tape every 4-6 weeks. After about eleven tapes into the membership they started putting a dent in my wallet, and I had to stop receiving them.

Now I wish I never had stopped getting them, because at least with the tapes the playback is continuous, with the DVD you have to select the episode each time you watch, and I really don't like having to do that. I wonder why they just didn't make it so you can see the whole season each episode one after the other without having to go back to a select screen each time. But oh well, I still can't wait for season three to come out.

I love the DVD's too. I bought them a few weeks ago from Amazon.com for about $45 total including shipping. That's a deal for two seasons worth of episodes. I have several of the VHS tapes from Columbia House also. I purchased them off of ebay for around $2 each. What I do, is simply transfer the material from the DVD to VHS tapes. If you use good quality tapes and have a nice Hi-Fi VCR, you can tape in EP mode. Season 1 with 14 episodes fits just perfect on a 6 hour tape. Thus, when I need an instant Sanford kick, I just pop in the tape I made. My biggest complaint with Columbia House is that they left off some of the funniest epiosdes from the VHS series and since the last four seasons are not on DVD yet, I have to make do with epiosdes that are chopped, sliced, diced and sped up for TV. Also, of course they have to be politically correct and edit out the "N" word as well on TV Land.
It's amazing that they chop out about 4 minutes from each episode for more screwmercialls. Sickening !!!

Chad
