Default Why some people like "Gidget"?

I want to know why people like to watch "Gidget", despite that it only 1 season & starred 18 year old Sally Field as the title character.

C'mon Sally Field wasn't much of a looker then & now.
Especially in a bikini. The show was quite corny.

LaRue makes the girls from "The Facts of Life" look cute like Debbie (now Deborah) Gibson!!!

Sally Field's acting was mediocre. (along with "The Flying Nun")

BTW, 18 year old Sally Field looked a lot like Mandy Moore.

And that creeps me out!!!

Angry Have you even met Debbie Gibson?

Hey, Sally Field was cute on "Gidget" and "The Flying Nun". She even looked good on "The Girl With Something Extra". Anyway,
so what if the shows were corny. It's a means of escapism watching those shows. And do you know Debbie Gibson? I've met her several times and could tell you some stories!

I don't know Deborah Gibson, but I've met her once at an autograph signing. She smiled and was thoughtful enough to sign my copy of her "M.Y.O.B." CD. (I know It's her job to do so) .And I don't care if she's actually a nasty/rude person in real life. She's a human being. It's her job to act nice. If she's a snotty person, who cares.

Even if she is a b***h, I still like her music.

And I bet Deborah would've been a great "Sister Bertrille" or a hotter "Gidget" if she were to be around in the 1960's.

And her name is "Deborah" not "Debbie". Sheesh!

"Welcome to the "Sienfeld" world. Nobody likes "Flying Nun" no more!!!
Eminem can shove Sister Bertrille's big ol' hat up her *** Ha Ha!!!"

(My girlfriend, "Janeane", isn't on this message board. So she asked me to write this for her)

And my high school counselor claimed to have met Deborah Gibson four times & even went back stage. She told me it was a pleasent experience from her youth.

Because it's classic, corny and wholesome. My daughter is 8 and we watched it tonight...she liked it. Works for me. I'd rather her watch Gidget than some of the other crapola on TV.

The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

That's just you & your daughter's opinion.

My girlfriend loves Deborah Gibson's "Electric Youth" album.
I love to watch classic "Saturday Night Live" & '80's music videos.

Some of my friends loves VH1 Classic, including myself.

And there's a lot of my peers who diss the '80's.

And there's nobody in my community that watches "Gidget" & "The Sacreligious Nun" (I'm a former Alter boy)

What do you mean by "crapola"?

reality shows or shows aimed to an older audience like "South Park" & "Just Shoot Me"?

BTW, I bet "Gidget" will be replaced by "Good Times" in May.

And I personally like "Who's The Boss". A better & more modern family sitcom.

By the way... Have you met Sally Field?

(not to be rude.)
And let bygones be bygones.

I don't want to fight.

BTW, I'm a fan of some "corny" shows myself.

Go ahead and heckle me.

I love "Who's The Boss" & seasons 3/6 of "Step by Step".

Plus "Solid Gold" & "Miami Vice".

And I don't even fit on this messageboard because I don't watch a lot of TV. (7 hours a week at the minimum)

And I mostly work at a used CD store a few blocks away from St. Ritas Catholic School where I contacted Sister Sherilyn who helped me to register on this messageboard. And she told me about some tv shows she loathed during her youth. Yes, I saw both "Gidget" & "The Flying Nun". At first, I thought they would be funny like "Married...With Children",but instead felt like I was watching current MTV. (A very unpleasant feeling)

Not to mention I only wanted to get my mind off of war & hatred.
And I got a positve remark from my post on the "Hogan's Heroes" thread. It's "comment". Check it out . And It's one of my least favorite shows. (no offense)

And you're post was very rude. Hate + Hate never solves the problem!
I only stated my opinion. I never intended to offend anybody.
And look up the 1st Amendment.

Jeesh! That's why there's a lot of negativity going on right now.
(No Offense. I'm proud to be living in the USA)

STUPID REASONS!!!

Question Huh?

I actually like both "Gidget" & Deborah (then Debbie) Gibson.

I want this nonsense to stop.

Sally Field was cute, though she still looks great.

And what does Debbie Gibson got to do with "Gidget"?

Nothing!

If you,Anti Pop Star, like Debbie Gibson, then why not visit a site that's devoted to her.

Personally, "Gidget" is a fun show to watch.

Atleast it's better than most of today's sitcoms that feature a teenage girl as the main character. (can you say "Lizzie McGuire?)

Red face

Back in the 60's Sally Field was a HOT commodity........ So was Patty Duke. It was a simpler time and a time I sometimes Long for..........

You can't comapre Deborah to Sally (those are just 2 different eras)...

The "Gidget" Show was fun to watch for us teens at the time. You may not think Sally was pretty but, as a girl growing up my sister and I wished we looked like her. The clothes that Gidget is wearing were HOT back then in the 60's... Also her hair bows were HOT........ She was styling......... We wished we had her life so to speak... It was an escapism from our hum drum normal lives at home. I'm still watching the show now........ I find it a bit corny now but, I still enjoy it.

Are you Solomon in disguise?

It's bad enough dealing with one know it all who thinks his opinion is RIGHT and everyone elses' is wrong.

If you dont have kids then you dont know how hard it is to shield the kids from some of the things on TV. I dont have to do that when she watches Gidget or Punky Brewster.

I liked Who's The Boss too but hey, I can only watch what's on TV or what I trade for. I cant' magically make WTB appear.

*I* Like Saturday Night Live but that's not material that an 8 year old feels compelled to watch.

You think it sucks and that's great. I think it doesn't.

Well, at first I wasn't crazy about Gidget, and I'm still not! But I must admit that it's a great show to just sit back and enjoy (especially when doing homework). I think the show is light-hearted and a good example for teenage girls now in days, perhaps they should take an example from Gidget! And remember that one shouldn't be in a hurry to grow up, that one only gets one life but if they work it right once can be enough!

That's just my opinion. Adios!

What about real shows like "Married...with Children".
Kelly Bundy was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
hotter & cooler than "Gidget".
Not to mention "Kelly Bundy" is like Sister Bertrille compared to Christina Aguilera.

Or "Who's The Boss"
Alyssa Milano is THE ONLY REASON WHY ME & MY FRIENDS LOVED THIS SHOW!!!

And VH1 where all the great top 100 shows are on.
