Default Why people liked this show?

I'm a former Alter boy. I don't like this show.
Sister Bertrille reminds me of Mandy Moore!!!

So I don't like Mandy either! (back to the subject)

Sister Sherilyn once told me that this show was popular when it originally aired. She claimed that the show was dumb, but other REAL nuns liked it.

I saw a couple of episodes last year (on ABC Fam & TV Land) & don't understand why people liked this show.

I thought it was cheesy. (no offense)

I want to hear opinions from hard some core fans!!!

Red face

To answer your question when my sister and I watched this show we fell in love with sister Bertrille and Carlos. We use to watch to see if anything would ever happen between these 2 people. Back then we found Carlos handsome and Sister Bertrille so pretty and young (for a nun).... We were hoping something would've happened.

No this is not anything to do with bashing nuns or anything. We love Nuns... Back then when this show aired we loved the storyline that's all.......

BTW, this show was praised by the Catoholic Church.

nun + casino owining playboy (Isn't gambling a sin?) = doesn't mix

Well, It's just a tv show.

I'll watch it when a nun becomes friends with hip hop playboy Puff Daddy.
(Well, Mase is now a minster...never mind)

I've seen a couple of episodes and It's OK.
It had a couple of good episodes like the love sick pelican, "St. Thomasina", the troublesome chimp, bread baking/lost ring, when Bertrille is on an island with Carlos, when Carlos wanted to convert himself, the boy who fibs & stole Bertrille's coronet, when Bertrille was sleep flying, and the Christmas episode.

I actually like "Bewitched" more than this show. (No Offense)

I mean "The Flying Nun" was quirky (despite that I like Bewitched)
,but worth watching when there's nothing on.

And "Gidget" is also a good show.

I liked the Flying Nun when it was on reruns on CBN and then on WWOR- New York.

My favorite episode of the show is where they get the organ and they have to have it pumped up by a vacuum cleaner and a certain key made the organ louder. When Sister Bertrille was playing, "Pop Goes The Weasel" and the Reverend Mother was listening and it was off key.The funny part was when the organ was played and the Reverend Mother played the song the right way, it broke The Reverend Mother's glasses, and Sister Bertille had to find someone to take it back, and Carlos wanted the organ, and then Sister Bertrille forgot that it broke things and when she tried to come back and tell Carlos about it,at the end,you can hear glass breaking and everything.

I was a kid when I first saw this show and pretty much liked anybody who could fly! The Sister and Carlos were also a draw.

Always wantedd to see sister Bertrille and Carlos become a couple
Sort of like the movie, the Sound of Music if you know what I mean. There was a real connection between them.

Default flying nun

Love the show it had lots of charm though cheesey at times( but hey...it was the innocent 60s).
Really wanted carlos and sister bertrlle to get together. Hoping she would not take her final vows as nun...and marry the ever loving from a distance Carlos

Thumbs up

A few reasons...
yes it was light and silly and slap stick but so many 60 tv series were back then, Is Tv any better now? Reality series of people making fools of them selves and doing disgusting and embarrassing things?....I don't know perhaps I am not getting todays generation.... But I would much rather see Flying Nuns, Martians, Jeannies, Munsters and Addams family, Ghost and Mrs Muir... oh i could go on and on... but oh how I love that fantasy get away After a long day at work and hearing the horrors of the real world on the news just to sit back few a few hours to escape into imaginary world of make believe.

PS I do think Carlos and Bertrille were a huge draw to the show, but the cast as a whole were hugly talented Sister Jaqueline, was my favorite, as well as the bumbling Formento, plus there were several very touching stories about the children... and towns folk. I really loved this show

I like this show for the same reasons, plus I also have seasons 1&2. I liked that it was an innocent show and Sally Field was perfect in her part. There was chemistry between all the cast members. I liked Sister Bertrille and Sister Sixto cause she always messed up our english slang.

I also liked the show for many of the reasons listed above. One draw was watching sister Bertrille try so hard to do the right thing, only to have it backfire on her most of the time. And seeing the mother Superior's disapproving look when she did mess up was pretty good. And of course, Carlos drew me to the screen like a magnet. (lol!)

It was just a cute show. It didn't really show off Sally Field's talents as an actress, but it was still cute.

It was a fun show, and entertaining, something you can say about modern day TV shows.
