Default Something else I noticed Strange in the episode Rent Party

The chacracter J.J did not appear in this episode bu the explanation for his absence on the show was very strange. It was said that J.J was in St. Louis. In St. Louis doing what?? They never mentioned why he was in St.Louis. I think one of the writers stole this idea from Sanford and Son.LOL. Atleast that's where Fred Sanford was living at one point, but J.J in St. Louis?-LOL Very Wacky Explanation for J.J's absence.

It's Jon Wiley. Nobody knows what he is talking about. He's mental.

I don't what or where the producers got the idea of J.J being in St. Louis. That doesn't make any sense!!! Second of all,was Jimmie Walker on tour doing comedy shows the reason that he wasn't in the episode "Rent Party"??? That could be possible. Because he made an album of comedy routines called Dynomite that came out around the same time. I know the episode "Rent Party" real well. Michael sings,"When You're Young In Love" and Florida, Thelma and Willona do their impression of Diana Ross and the Supremes singing "Stop In The Name Of Love"??? Did you all like those parts of that episode??? In reference to who the Rent Party was for,it was for Wanda,a neighbor in the building, who was having a hard time getting the rent and they threw a rent party for her and they made enough for the rent.

Well i always wondered why he was missing in that episode. Especially since he was supposed to be the so-called star of the show.So that comedy tour was during the year of 1976?

Yes,it was in 1976,also during hiatuses of Good Times,he did comedy tours as well. I think the 1976 tour coincided with his comedy album Dynomite coming out and he was touring to support the album.

The uncut version of "Rent Party" has James and Florida discussing J.J. in St. Louis at the very beginning. Supposedly he was at an art show or something like that. That section was cut out when on regular TV so it kind of kept it a mystery until I got Season 3 on DVD.

Question

It's kind of strange that Jimmie Walker(J.J.) wasn't on the last episode with John Amos. I wonder if this was just a coincidence or did the writers know what was coming and try to keep the actors apart and avoid any more tension. Probably just a coincidence, but I have always wondered . . .?
