I'm just curious to know the opinions of a viewer who watched this show during the 1970's. So if someone watched AITF on CBS, let me know.

1. My first impression was that he was funny and the things that came out of his mouth.

2. Yes I thought The Jeffersons was going to be a hit. That first season was LOL funny. Unfortunately the show wore its welcome out and did not go out in dignity. They were cheated out of a series finale to bring a full closure.

3. No because they did not even visit Maude and that was Edith's cousin. It would had been great to see crossovers. If you notice in Norman Lear's shows when there is a spinoff there is no crossover of its parent shows like Mary Tyler Moore with Rhoda and Phyllis' spinoffs.

Did you notice once Sherman Hemsley appeared on AITF, Lionel was seen less and less. Or you didn't pay it no attention. Also Archie and Edith did visit Maude but it was still a All in th Family episode. It was the Maude pilot.

True I forgot that. Once the show is spinoff you don't see the parent show on the other. Edith was on the Jeffersons' pilot but once the show started you did not see Archie and Edith. Good Times was a spinoff from Maude and you did not see Maude on Good Times. It would have been nice to see Maude in the ghetto. That sure would had made a very good episode if Archie and Edith would had done some guest spots on the Jeffersons.

Well it would have been impossible for Maude to guest star on Good Times because the transition from Maude to Good Times makes no sense. I believe Florida left Maude because her husband Henry not James got a better job. But Maude was based in NY and for some strange reason Good Times was based in Chicago. So Good Times does not really connect to the parent show Maude because of the different name for her husband and different city. So were you surprised to See George and Louise return back to All in the Family in 1978, and 1979?

I was but it would had been nice to see somewhat of a storyline with them. The interplay between George and Archie, brief as it was, was funny. I forgot that Maude was set in NY. Thanks for the reminder.

Did you ever think the reason the Jeffersons left All in the Family was a little strange? When i say strange I mean moving out of their House to move into a Apartment.

I did thought it was a little strange but if you were to look at that apartment they had it wasn't just any average apartment. It was like almost like a penthouse type apartment. I hate apartments but that would be my ideal apartment if I had one.

Still, to move out of a house to pay rent to someone is not exactly smart. Did you watch Maude also? If so what made that show a top ten show? I never seen it but just wondering how was it that good to be in the top ten.

With my imagination I am using I can see the Jefferson's doing a rent to own because apartments of the magnitude that George and Louise had I can see that happening and it is common. I don't think the show would had done well if they bought a mansion type house.

As for Maude. I watched that show in my teens. I watch it now at age 41 and I can't stand that show. Very dated and a platform to express Norman Lear's support on women's lib. To watch a man be a puppy dog to his wife was a bit much. I just find the Maude and Walter as well as Arthur and Vivian too out there for my taste. Like All In the Family Edith was the voice of reason, Louise was the voice of reason on Good Times and Florida was the voice of reason on Good Times. On Maude there was no voice of reason. Maude constantly ranting and raving, Walter and Arthur acting like little boys on the playground and Vivian being more dingier than Edith Bunker. But one thing Bea Arthur is an excellent situation comedy actress. Very funny.

When All in the Family ended in 1979, were you surprised the producers kept it going? How long did u think Achie Bunker's Place would last once it started?

I was very surprise. In my opinion they should had pulled the plug when Mike and Gloria moved to CA. Adding Stephanie hurt the show even though there were a few entertaining episodes. Archie Bunker's Place was surprisingly good but still Archie was not the same and it was as enjoyable as AITF.
