Default Did this new change at the start of the 75-76 help or hurt the show?

At the beginning of the 75-76, a new character was added to Rhoda. There was a new best friend for Brenda. Was this a good addition to the show or a bad addition?

To be honest what hurt the show was marrying Rhoda off immediately. After the wedding the writers seemed to not know how to handle Rhoda being married. Personally Joe and Rhoda were not compatible at all. The sad thing is Rhoda had the potential to be a great show but it was that wedding and the lack of direction thereof. It seemed the show never recovered.

Did the new character at the start of 1975-76, remain on the show?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Rhoda got even better with the separation and divorce of Rhoda from Joe. The show worked perfectly. For two seasons, Rhoda and Joe were wed. When those stories ran out, Rhoda became single again and another great new show seemingly came about. It was like a chameleon. It just got prettier with the changes.

I stopped watching Rhoda after her and Joe got divorce. Thats what ruined the show for me.

Question

Mr. Roper,

I, truly, respect your opinion. It was an awful lot for viewers to take to see their heroine lose her dream. But, remember, Rhoda is a victorious loser. She always seemed to make life great despite her bad luck. This is just my opinion!

I respect your opinion too. I just liked the early shows better. The cast was great and I know a lot of people didn't like Joe but I thought he and Rhoda had great chemistry. Then he left and later Nancy Walker left for a time and they brought in some new cast members that I didn't care for. But having different opinions on shows we like is what makes SO so much fun.

Why is it when somebody gets married, the show goes down the toilet like "I Dreamed of Jeannie, The Adventures of Lois & Clark, Moonlighting, among others!!"

I found that odd too. Usually a wedding Episode is something that closes out a TV series not start it off. Why did Rhoda and Joe split up?

I totally agree with you..I thought Rhoda actually improved after she got divorced; she seemed to become a stronger person after her and Joe's split...

I also agree that the show got better after Joe left. He did not complament her. He was always stressed about money. I think there were underlining issues there. A fter he left she could be her own person.

It's been awhile since I've seen the show, but I think Joe was very busy with work and didn't have time for her.
