Question about a new character at the start of 75-76 season, Larry the travel agent. - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Just wanted to know was the character Larry, the travel agent was good addition to the show at the start of the 75-76 season. I found out that was a new change for the show in 1975.

Wasn't this also the same season that the opening title theme changed and the opening credits change completely as well. It changed from Bob leaving his office and coming home to Emily to Bob and Emily leaving their house. I noticed that my local station Me-TV only showed eps. of Bob Newhart from 1972-75.

I wouldn;t know-i had a fall preview of 75 and it was noted that Larry was added to spice up the show so i was just asking fans of this show was his addition help or hurt the show

I think it was the season where they changed the opening and "jazzed up" the theme-which was called "Home To Emily"-and it was "jazzed up" by Bob James, who wrote the theme for "Taxi".

I liked Larry, too. He and Carol were a good match, and he always called his wife "Big Red".

You know, I've seen several of the later season episodes, but I don't think I've ever seen one including Larry. In all my years of watching the show, I forgot he event existed, besides marrying Carol.

He first appeared in the fourth season episode, "Carol's Wedding" and was in a couple of other episodes that year.
