Default Good Times or The Jeffersons? Pick one and state your reason

I would have to say Good Times over the Jeffersons because the Good Times episodes including more interesting topics. Such as unemploymemnt, gangs, and the family receiving eviction notices every once in a while. On the other hand the Jeffersons had the potential to be one of the greatest sitcoms ever after the first season but there was too many changes before season 2. So basically that's one good season versus 3 good seasons which means Good Times WINS!!!

The Jeffersons had a lot of changes, but it stayed funny. Good Times wasn't funny because they played off J.J. too much, and he got really old after awhile.

The Jeffersons stayed funny but the characters Louise and George Jeffersons were not the same as they were on All in the Family. George and Louise were like two different people 4th or 5th season of the Jeffersons. Especially George. On the other hand, Florida and James were the same on Good Times as they were on Maude. They never changed.

My pick: The Jeffersons
My reasons: (1) Less preachy; (2) I like Isabel Sanford much more than Esther Rolle; and (3) NO Jimmie Walker!! (Sorry, but I cannot stand him.)

By the way, Solomon, the character of James Evans didn't appear on Maude.

I like the Jeffersons better.

1. Better cast of characters.

2. Funnier stories. They dealt with controversial subjects in a less serious and preachy way than Good Times did.

3. An absence of a character who took over the show (which was the case with J.J.). I don't feel George totally eclipsed the show like J.J. did on Good Times.

4. The Jeffersons is also better because I don't see any major changes during the first seven or eight years. The show evolved and with this came the toning down of George and one cast change (Mike Evans/Damon Evans) but that didn't really effect the show since it was obvious that Lionel wasn't the main character.

However, Good Times had major cast changes, with John Amos leaving and Esther Rolle leaving and coming back. Not to mention the introduction of characters that weren't really necessary like Bookman, Keith, Carl and Penny.

He appeared as Henry-the character was still the same as James Evans

I don't really liked either but if I HAD to choose then it would be "The Jeffersons".

The Jeffersons because it was much funnier. Good Times is too preachy! It gets on my nerves.

Cool THE JEFFERSONS!

The Jeffersons is my selection. The show was just plain out funnier and endured longer than Good Times. The cast of Good Times weren't near as good as cast of The Jeffersons and the chemistry between the characters was definitely better on The Jeffersons.

IMO, Florida Evans was MUCH funnier than Louise Jefferson.

Yea thats true isnt it?

I dunno why they didnt play the exact same characters they did on thier show which made it so good!

I havent seen enough of Good times to make a determination...

Jeffersons was good thruout its time though..

The Jeffersons I guess. 100% less JJ.

Then why are you so insistent Good Times is not a spin-off of Maude?

Esther Rolle said in a interview the JJ character was more suited for Jeffersons or Sanford and Son I think he would have been a better Lamont because he looked more like a dummy
