Talking So, who's watching?

This marathon is kinda fun. I'm loving the intros, the interviews in the middle, all the extras. Besides, I'm laughing at episodes I've seen 10 times.

LOVE IT!!!!

I love this marathon! I am so glad TV Land added the original opening credits and extras to the marathon. I can't wait to see more of the marathon.

I'm watching too and enjoying the little tidbits. Can someone straighten me out with a couple of things.

1. TV Land mentions that the heart intros were later developed for syndication. What type of closing credits came with the original animation intros. and why is TV Land using the syndicated heart for the closing credits?

2. I have an episode guide from N@N, but the episode numbers didn't match up with TV Land's numbers. Probably a dumb question, but I have to ask. Is N@N wrong when they state that episode "Lucy Thinks Ricky is Trying to Murder Her" is the very first Lucy episode?

3. Is there a difference between "uncut" and original air time episodes? To me, "The Girls Want to Go to a Nightclub" episode wasn't much longer than the edited version on N@N. I noticed eps. that followed were indeed longer. Did TV Land fudge a little on time? What is the running time of uncut eps?

I think N@N is wrong when they say that, and it's too bad because I taped it when it was on N@N when they advertised it as being the first. However, every source I said listed the episode airing last night on TVLand as being the first episode, so I guess N@N made a boo-boo.

Lucy Thinks Ricky is Trying to Murder Her was the first episode TAPED, but The Girls Want to go to a Nightclub was the first episode SHOWN, because it was more polished and everyone thought it would be better to show it first. So depending on what you look at, some will say #1 (Murder) is #4, and #2 (Nightclub) is #1. Depends on if the guide does it in filmed order or aired order.

The only thing different is the background. Originally, the advertiser's product was prominently displayed. The credits rolled over this image of the sponsor's product. The closing credits that have been used in syndication contains the same script, but the background was replaced with the satin heart.

No, they are correct, because that is the first episode AIRED. "Lucy Thinks Ricky is Trying to Murder Her" is the first episode filmed (other than the "I Love Lucy" pilot which preceded it by six months).

I'll have to check on this, but I do believe what they aired last night is completely uncut. One thing I noticed in the past with regard to the "Nightclub" episode is that at the end of the final act, right before the tag where Lucy and Ethel are at the fights with Ricky and Fred, Lucy plants a big kiss on Ricky. In some of the "cut" prints of the show, the satin heart closes the scene just prior to her doing this. So you don't see that last kiss. I wasn't paying attention last night to whether or not they showed this.

I'm watching, and I even stopped watching the awful Redskins-Cowboys game last night to see Lucy. When I saw the final score this morning I was glad I had changed the channel!

Cool

I'm watching! I'm taping the marathon every night (because I go to bed pretty early). Last night was great. Love the intros!! They're very cute!

------------------
Lucy: "Ever since we said 'I do' there are so many things we don't."

Lucy : "That must be my dear friend Ethel. I'll open the door, Fred."
Fred : "Open it?! I was going to lock it!"

Lucy : "Gee, did you hear that, honey? It's going to be called "Bitter Grapes." I wonder what part they want me for."
Fred : "Oh, you're probably going to be one of the bunch."

I'm confused because They showed the nightclub episode and I don't even see it listed in the top 50 they show in the tv guide. I also thought they were going to show the episodes in order of their popularity like thet have listed in the tv guide, either 1 to 50 or countdown from 50 to 1. Anyway, I am taping it and I'm sure I'll enjoy it no matter what! Did any of you see the actress playing Lucy on the station where they sell merchandice. She was great! She had her down perfect. Just like seeing Lucy again! Happy marathoning!. Suzie

I think they're showing 51 episodes in all. I believe they only showed the "Nightclub" episode to mark the exact moment of 50 years because it was the first episode aired. The 50 "biggest laughs" episodes then followed. As regards to the order, the reason I believe they're not doing it in countdown order is because they're trying to keep them in order in terms of when they were broadcast relative to one another. The first night, we only saw first season episodes. Last night, they aired first season, and later in the night, second season, episodes. Tonight, I suppose they'll start off with episodes from late in the second season, and then move on to the their selection of "biggest laugh" episodes from the third season. Personally, I have to take issue with some of the episodes they have selected, which certainly aren't among my 50 favorites. For example, that "New Neighbors" episode, which I hate, and "The Publicity Agent." Who the heck are these "experts" who chose these best 50 episodes?

I like Publicity Agent, but I too dislike New Neighbors! Now, I know they're going for laughs, but Lucy Goes to the Hospital without Lucy is Enceinte is not acceptable. And Lucy is Envious????

I'm a brand-new fan, and didn't even really watch the show until that marathon started. I simply tuned in for nostalgia purposes. But now I'm hooked! I really enjoyed the New Neighbors episode. Is that the one where Lucy thinks she overhears a murder plot from the new tennants' closet, and slips out under a chair slipcover? I thought that was great!!! But then again, I'm not expert. They haven't shown my favorite episode yet however, at least, I don't think. I always got a kick out of the episode where Lucy babysits, and the mother pulls the wool over Lucy's eyes by sneaking in a twin. Those kids are real brats!

Nah, they didn't show that one. #14- Amateur Hour. I like it.

In my opinion, which really doesn't mean anything to anyone but me, , they missed a lot of laughs. It would take too long to list, but trust me, they missed 'em!!!

Welcome to the boards and welcome to I Love Lucy. I'm your hostess, dawsongirl. Between me and the others on the board, we know Lucy!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Dawsongirl! I'm thrilled to be here! I'm a huge fan of classic TV (and also very active in the "Leave it to Beaver" board.) It's great to see fans of all ages rediscovering this show! (me included) I'm seventeen myself, and thankful that God gave me a love for these kind of shows, rather than the so-called "quality" television that dominates the airwaves today. I'd never trade my affinity for The Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents to have a chance to be with the "in-crowd" and watch reality shows and pathetic, watered down PC sitcoms. But I'm ranting...Anyway, keep up the good work, and keep on Loving Lucy!!!
