Melvin & Eugen.....Who is who? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Not being a big fan of the post-Richie episodes, an old post regarding the Belvins caught my interest. Apparently, Eugene Belvin was the star nerd from '80-'82 and Melvin from '82- '83. Why did they switch nerds? For that matter, does anyone have any pics of these two guys? I am thoroughly confused about their identities.

Dennis Madel played Eugene Belvin, the first one. The producers thought Dennis was causing too many problems on the set, so they replaced him with Scott Bernstein, who played Melvin ( the younger Belvin brother ).
