What do you mean by a 2nd DVD? When did the first one come out? I checked out the TVShowsOnDVD website and they have nothing listed. I would love to hear more about this.

Diamond Entertainment released the first DVD of 'Petticoat Junction' in October 1999, and they have not done another volume.

The TVShowsOnDVD website, for some reason dosen't have it listed. However E-Bay does, to find more about it's release click the link below:

Thanks for the info! I'll wait until a new one comes out. I want to see the first 2 B & W seasons which, to my knowledge, haven't been rerun yet, at least not where I live.

FYI - A few weeks ago, we bought a 5 DVD set of TV episodes from the 60s...put out by Brentwood Home Video...featuring:

10 eps of Beverly Hillbillies
8 eps of Andy Griffith
8 eps of Dick Van Dyke Show
4 eps of The Lucy Show
4 eps of Petticoat Junction
8 eps of Ozzie and Harriet...

42 episodes altogether, not a bad buy...

It was only about $15...anyway, the four Petticoat Junction episodes were the same ones advertised on the Petticoat Junction DVD on ebay:

1) Bobby Jo and Beatnik
2) Last Chance
3) Please Buy Violets
4) Kate's Recipe

The packaging for the set was deceiving however...it featured pictures of various stars of these shows, and included pictures of June Lockhart and the 3 latter-day Bradley Sisters (Lori Sanders, Linda Kaye Henning, and Meredith Mcrea)...However, the 4 episodes featured the "original" Bradley girls (I forget their names). In those days, Bobby Jo was a brainy bookworm...She was played by a girl who was just about as pretty as Lori Sanders, whom I always considered to be easily the most beautiful Bradley sister... (I forget, is it Sanders or Saunders?)

Anyway, I didn't mind the episodes, but the packaging for the "TV Time Comedy" package was deceiving...still, the package was worth the $15 it cost us to get it...

I sure hope they come out with a real P.J. DVD set soon, with one or two seasons at least...

I have that DVD! Bought it as a single disc for $3.99 and still love it! I literally watch it every night. "Last Chance Farm" is my favorite! These black and white episodes appeal to me much more than the oft-repeated color eps. Also, you wouldn't expect it from a 3rd party company, but it is of very high quality and clear picture quality. Only problem is, they didn't use the original theme song...anyway, can't wait for the next one!

Default Petticoat Junction VHS of B&W Episodes

A few weeks ago I found in a Save-A- Lot Grocery store in Canton, Ohio a 7 episode VHS set of Petticoat Junction put out by Diamond Entertainment.(1998).The price was only $1.00. The episodes Included (All first Season)

Bobbie Joe And the Beatnik
Last Chance Farm
Kate's Recipe For Hot Rhubarb..(Turning Bobbie Jo The Bookworm into an attractive Date)
Herby Get's Drafted
Spur Line To Shady Rest (1st episode-Had only seen it on TVLand)
Night at the Hooterville Hilton
Please Buy My Violets

The Video Quality was decent for the price..There was different theme music. Aside from Spur Line, I had never seen the other episodes before. These episodes seem more laugh out loud funny than the Color Ones I'd already seen. I liked Pat Woodell as Bobbie Joe..Thought she was cute. You also realize how important Bea Benaderet was to the show..

Another note: Save-A-Lot has a companion franchise called Deal's That is mostly all dollar items where these videos come from. Also found 3 volumes of THE BILL DANA SHOW. (Jose Jimenez-Bellboy) Featured Don Adams as A Hotel Detective. Save a Lot/Deals has a good video selection..but They may/or may not have these ones. It's worth a chance to look though.

I bought a set of PJ eps on DVD, 4 B&W eps which someone else listed here. all PJ eps released so far have been public domain (PD) eps, meaning that somehow those particular eps lost their copyrights, so they can be copied w/ no $ paid to the owners. All the other eps listed on that comedy DVD are also most likely PD eps. That's why the same 5 or 6 Dick Van Dyke Show eps always show up on cheap DVDs, along w/ about 16 Andy Griffith Show eps. Another distinction of these eps is that you won't hear the original theme song on them, since the theme songs are still copyright-protected. Among the Beverly Hillbillies eps that are PD, all of them apparently B&W eps, which are better eps on that show IMO, is The Giant Jackrabbit, which still holds the record as the highest-rated half-hour show in tv history when it first aired on 1/8/64. I just bought another DVD of Beverly Hillbillies PD eps, about 20 of them, for just $5.99, since I think one of them is a hilarious ep that had Doris Packer & Joanna Barnes playing a society mother & daughter who think that the Clampetts have started a new trend by dressing as hillbillies.

Those are low budget,low quality,bargain basement DVDS'(Griffith,P.J.,ETC)
Petticoat has yet to be released on high quality, major company label, on DVD.

ON the other hand Griffith was released on paramount dvd's season 1 and 2. you can see the quality is a million times better. that's what you want in your collection!!

As much as I love the tradition PJ themesong of "Little Hotel by the Shady Rest" I love the vhs version with it's instrumental banjo theme. It's so pretty.
