who did you like best Andy or Barny?

Early seasons, I like them both. Since Barney left the show and I really didn't like Andy's character from seasons 5-8, it's neither. Believe me, if Don stayed all the way through, I'd just say Barney and leave it at that. Don did make a few guest appearances, but it doesn't really count to me.

Andy's whole premise on the show was to not embarass Barney. Barney was a nutty guy with not a lot of redeaming qualities beyond being huge-hearted. Huge-hearted was enough for Andy to treat Barney with the utmost care and respect.

My answer is, BOTH! Andy and Barney were equals.

I too vote for both Andy and Barney....they both bring a smile to my face and heart......even after all these years.

I would have to say both, too. They both made the show great, and when Barney left the show, it just wasn't the same. Andy certainly wasn't the same character after Barney's departure.

I liked the chemistry between the characters of Andy and Barney.
Don Knotts was brilliant in that role and for me the show was never quite as good after he left. He was irreplacable.
