Red face What did you think Wanda at Large's pilot?

Well as you may know I'm not the biggest Wanda Sykes fan.She and Susie Essman's Susie Greene character on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" are my 2 least favorites but this show looked ok.Well It was what I expected which is ok but only ok.Let's start with the theme song.We don't see the credits in the theme song. That's a strike against it but it does have words and it's a pretty catchy tun.Now the cast. It's great to see Phil Morris ("Seinfeld") and Jurnee Smolett ("Cosby") who has aged beautifully on TV again but they are given so little to work with and the only somewhat interesting character is Wanda's white sister-in-law but she too is given very minimal screen time in favor of Wanda's rants, raves and screams.I'm sorry but this show or at least the 1st episode was a minor let-down (but still a let-down).I would have preferred a Jackie Chiles spinoff.

I would give it a B-/C+. Wanda Sykes is one of the funniest female comedianes, but she isn't given much of a chance to shine as well here. I liked most of the jokes, and loved her energy though.

I didn't really like it. I thought it was kinda......Weird. I didn't really watch all of it cause I was watching 8 simple rules on CTV so I was switching back and forth, but I did tape it soI'll watch it later but I didn't really like what I saw. I might give it another chance but if that one sucks too I'll stop watching it.

Default Hmmmmm!!!!

Well the show really sucked I have a headache already from her is very annoying voice. I think they picked the wrong person to play her role. I hope the show cancels I have no faith in her show whatsoever. I grade her as follows:

(1) Her Voice 50% = F
(2) Personality 60% = D
(3) Talent = 50% = F (just as bad as her voice)
(4) Overall Proformance = 65% = D

I hope the network does us justice by Canceling the show. We do not need her on television PERIOD! Where did they ever come up with the idea that she could even act? The network has really done itself in this time!

I agree completely. Last night's episode (the 2nd episode) was a little more balanced out, and much funnier. I think it fits with Fox programming, and it's one of the few new shows I do watch. I doubt it will last, unfortunately, but the show isn't for everyone.

I starting to really like this show. The second episode last night was much better than the Pilot.

What's that black dude's real name who has braids on the show? I saw him on the short lived sitcom on UPN back in the mid to late 90's called Goode Behavior with Sherman Hemsley, Dorien Wilson, Bianca Lawson. He was also on a show not too long ago last yr i think on UPN with two white boys. I forgot what the show was about but it was corny.

Last night's episode was much more improved than the previous two. Wanda was hilariously funny, and the material that she was given was much more her-style. I love the supporting cast, and thought that it went much more smoothly. A/A-.

I think Wanda Sykes is one of the best! They just need to give this show some time to gel together. She is too funny not to be on TV, and each episode is getting funnier and funnier. As for judging the whole series after one look, come on! Look at all the great TV shows all through the years and tell me if any of your favorite episodes ever come from the first few. A good series needs some time. Lets hope FOX give it to her.

I agree. I have a feeling it might come back next season.

Last night's episode was one of the best. Absolutely hilarious from start to finish. "Those theiving bastards." When Wanda got the cops to break in to her apartment and arrest whoever was in her apartment, and even though she saw it was a party for her "shoot em."

She delivers it so well, and makes it incredibly funny.

I agree. I can not stand her voice. The show may be funny, but her voice is really annoying. And they say the lady from The Nanny has the worst voice in the world.

I think Wanda is very funny, she was on Oprah once. I just always forget to watch the show.

I saw a couple of episodes, and probably only one all the way through. The one i saw was where Wanda went to a Baseball game, and Bradley ended up going too. I thought it was pretty funny, and this show is, although it's not great, better than a LOT of new shows these days. Man, '60's - Early '90's were the best sitcom years. Why can't we get back to nice Family humor, I don't understand it.... Are the children just REALLY less talented these days because everyone is so lazy, or what?
