The real reason they don't air the openings the original way is because it would be free advertising. I mean the sponsors of I Love Lucy reserved their selling time at that time frame. Are you with me so far? Like when they air re-runs in my area of George Burns and Grace Allen, they air the original ads at the beginning and end. GOODTIMES home video created a tribute to Lucy a few years ago. In fact they have created lots of tributes to Lucy, but this particular one had a glimpse of the original animation clips and original Cigarette ads and everything. With todays picky standards, we won't see Lucy any other way, but I think that the animation TVLAND uses is great in the sense that they use the animation for their benefit yet they provide us with something brand new. Also, why can't they air old cigarette commercials yet they can air alcoholic commercials. I think I would be safer buying cigarettes and driving a car than buying alcohol and getting into a car. Don't you think? Also alcohol is more age restricted.
