Question Whats this song called????

There is a song that Ive wanted to DL for a while, but I have NO idea what its called! Anyways, its a guy singing it and in the chorus he says New York City. I only hear the song @ work, so I cant really hear what he's saying. All I ever hear is: *dadddad da dd da da da* in New York Ciiiiiiiiiiiiiiity. Is the song called NYC? Who sings it? For some reason, the song sounds like it would be from the 80s.

Any other clues? Hard rock? Pop? Lounge singer? Name a band or singer it sounds similar to.

Also, any other words? or clues to dominant instruments - guitar, piano, synthesizer?

Could it be the Rolling Stones - "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)"?

The police in New York City,
they chased a boy right through the park.
And in a case of mistaken identity
the put a bullet through his heart.

Heart breakers with your forty four,
I wanna tear your world apart,
you heart breaker with your forty four,
I wanna tear your world a part.

A ten year old girl on a street corner,
Sticking needles in her arm.
She died in the dirt of an alleyway,
her mother said she had no chance, no chance!
Heart breaker, heart breaker,
she stuck the pins right in her heart.
Heart breaker, pain maker,
stole the love right out of you heart.

Heart breaker, heart breaker,
you stole the love right out of my heart.
Heart breaker, heart breaker,
I wanna tear your world apart.

Doo doo, doo doo doo doo doo doo...

No, I dont think that was the song- but thank you!

New York City was said during each chorus. It was a light rock/easy listening song. Cant really remember the music in the background because I cant hear the song too well @ work, all I remember is that one line! LOl. But I love the song!

I think I know what you're talking about. It's a song by Christopher Cross(?), but I can't remember the title.

And it's not Christopher Cross's "Arthur's Theme" is it?

Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)
( Christopher Cross )

Once in your life you find her
Someone that turns your heart around
And next thing you know you're closing down the town
Wake up and it's still with you
Even though you left her way across town
Wondering to yourself, "Hey, what've I found?"

When you get caught between the Moon and New York City
I know it's crazy, but it's true
If you get caught between the Moon and New York City
The best that you can do ......
The best that you can do is fall in love

Arthur he does as he pleases
All of his life, he's mastered choice
Deep in his heart, he's just, he's just a boy
Living his life one day at a time
And showing himself a really good time
Laughing about the way they want him to be

When you get caught between the Moon and New York City
I know it's crazy, but it's true
If you get caught between the Moon and New York City
The best that you can do .....
The best that you can do is fall in love

When you get caught between the Moon and New York City
I know it's crazy, but it's true
If you get caught between the Moon and New York City
The best that you can do .....
The best that you can do is fall in love

It sounds like it could be the song from the 1981 movie, Arthur, with Dudley Moore. It's called, Arthur's Theme (Best that you can do) and Christopher Cross sings it.
Burt Bacharach wrote it. I read an article once that explained that Burt was stuck in an airplane circling the airport due to poor weather. He looked out the window and saw the moon above and New York below and came up with the line:
"When you get caught between the moon and New York City...I know it's crazy, but it's true..."
