Default When Cindy Williams left ......

The show seemed very pointless, didn't it? Even the cast seemed kind of bored to me. One thing I think that they should have done was have Laverne and Carmine become romantically involved. Maybe they were planning to, but the show got canceled before anything could be done about it. What else do you think could have been done differently?

Nothing else really couldn't have been done since the show featured both characters together for 7 years. Laverne and Shirley was a team on Happy Days which later led to their own show. The viewing public wouldn't have watched Laverne without Shirley. If the show had continued without Shirley, the show would have been a car going down a road with one flat tire and a drop of gas-LOL.

Well, according to some reports, when Shirley left the viewers were very curious to see how the show would change. AFAIK it was still in the Top 50 in the Nielsens.

My main gripe about the final season was the Playboy episode. Other than that, I hated the "Do The Carmine" and Squendolyn episodes.

Was the title of the show changed when Shirley left? I think someone told me they renamed the show Laverne-is this true?

Having seen most of the last season, I have seen the title "Laverne and Shirley", albeit without Shirley in the scenes. (Recall Laverne with a bag of groceries and some kids marching and counting around her!)

I read where it was called "Laverne" in Germany.

I hope that helps, Solomon!

Laverne and Shirley in its final season without Cindy Williams ranked number 25 for that season. Also Michael McKean left the show also, leaving David Lander to do to show alone as Squiggy, and Frank and Edna divorcing also left a void as well. So I feel like everyone else that it should have been called Laverne or The Penny Marshall Show or just ended the show in the 1981-1982 season with a final episode of closure since Cindy Williams left because she was pregnant with her first child. Laverne and Shirley was much much better with them together.

Now that was something i didn't know. I never knew that the guy who played Lenny left the show.

He appeared a few times during the last season (every few episodes), and they'd add him to the credits if I'm not mistaken. His last episode was 174, "Please Don't Feed the Buzzards."

But Michael was seen less frequently though. That made it different. I liked it when they were all together. Laverne and Shirley. Lenny and Squiggy. They brighten the day when you watched them. Especially missed the opening credits where Laverne and Shirley sing 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 Schmiel Schmauzel Hausenpfieffer Inc. and the Welcome To Milwaukee Sign comes up when they were in Milwaukee and especially when they did it in California.

I felt like the show was 'over' when they changed locations.
