The Love Boat is not a sitcom!!! It is a Cruiseship drama, much in the way that is fellow Saturday night ABC show, "Fantasy Island," was a Romantic Drama. Neither one of these shows were sitcoms. They never will be sitcoms. Why on earth did "The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows" call "The Love Boat" a "Situation Comedy?" Beats me. But "The Love Boat" is not a sitcom. It is a "Cruiseship Drama."

IMO The Love Boat is a romantic comedy or a dramedy. TJ does list dramedies with sitcoms.

This show made me laugh. That's what comedies are supposed to do.
It lifts my spirits, and cheers me up more than other shows.
However, one week from today, it's being dumped from TV Land, and for some reason, that's depressing me.

The reason Love Boat is not listed as a comedy & not a comedy-drama like "Dukes of Hazzard" is because LB had a laugh track unlike Fantasy Island.
