So, I understand that a special affects company from Hollywood claimed that they made the Minnesota Ice man. But if this is true, the how can we account for the foul odor coming from the body/ice? Some people asserted that they smelled bad stuff when they saw the Ice Man, yo. To me, this would indicate somethin' was goin on, yo. What choo think?

I am quite familiar with the story of the Minnesota Iceman, as I am from Minnesota. It actually happened in my part of the state, many years before I was born, of course. I wrote part of a research paper on it when I was in ninth grade several years ago. At the time, I felt as though it was genuine, but now I'm not so sure. I would be happy to discuss it further.

I have this episode on tape. To me, I believe the original was real.
After **** hit the fan keep in mind the owner took it and disappeared for about a year and then when he came back onto the cirucit, he had a completely different and obviously faked one. |

Dear Friends,
Frank Hansen must have had some reason for making the Ice Man scarce! Could it have been a real organic life form? IMO, yes. I feel it is possible, but I have no idea about the likelihood. I have a strange esoteric theory. Do you want to know what I think? I think that the Ice Man was REAL. I think that Frank Hansen may have sold it on the black market to a Rich, eccentric customer. Perhaps now the Minnesota Ice man is now located in a place that no one will ever find it, perhaps in a laboratory 300 feet below the ocean surface somewhere on Earth. Maybe there is danger in knowing the truth. Could the Ice Man have been something of an abomination? I believe that they have it somewhere and are studying it in a clandestine laboratory. What do you think???? |

I think the iceman was a poor unfortunate human, if it wasn't a dummy.

Maybe the Hollywood Special effects company made the fake replacement. The original sounds real. I'd like to see this solved.

It was probably the adominable iceman or an evolutionary specimen that was well preserved by nature.
UM didn't do a very good job of saying what had happened to the guy and if the police interrogated him or not. What did happen to that guy? Is he still alive? |

There is lots of information on the internet regarding this story. I found many, many sites that give info, more than was said on UM.

You'll shoot your eye out!
Talk about Unsolved Mysteries not giving the whole story. I don't remember anything about the eyes being shot out. There was something about a law enforcement officer asking, "How'd it get dead?" as if the cause of death was not apparent. According to all these sources, it was shot. Here http://www.bigfootencounters.com/articles/hansen.htm is the story by Hansen, that scoundrel. At various sideshow carnivals in the 1920s, supposedly a girl would be seen frozen in a block of ice--as far as I can guess, a wax replica of a carnival worker. The carnival worker would be kept hidden while the ice block was displayed, then the ice block was hidden and the girl walked around as if she'd "escaped" from the ice. A pretty impressive feat for a time when people couldn't even keep ice cream in their freezers for long. If anyone knows of any details describing this practice, please post. |

The apparently authentic and original Minnesota Iceman exhibited by Frank Hansen has been tracked down and is now on regular display in a museum. http://www.museumoftheweird.com/news...nesota-iceman/ The scientific community is not taking it seriously. Some people believe the original has resurfaced and was a model all along, while others believe a genuine biological creature was switched for a model. http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2016/0...y-filled-book/

This article says the whole thing was a hoax and a model all along. Either more than one model, one more realistic than the other, or one model that was thawed and refrozen between exhibitions, causing it to take on a different appearance.
