Can you name any instance when the 4 acted sort of "out of character"? The ones that come to mind for me are:
Rose-- Brilliant about complicated football strategy and when she was smart enough not to fall for the "oldest confidence game going" (The Pigeon Drop) (Sophia and Blanche were at the mall and a man claimed to have found a wallet full of 2 thousand dollars and the girls got scammed). Dorothy acted pretty stupid when she bought Frank Sinatra tickets from a scalper. It seems like she would know better. Blanche acted sort of out of character when ...? well, the only time I can think of is when she vowed to give up sex when Rose went to the hospital. Sophia was really nice to all the children, for the most part - unlike being mean and nasty to the others. Any others..? |

Hmmmm...well, Rose is very competitive, and maybe she watched a lotta football that we just never saw. lol
As for Dorothy and Frank Sinatra, even the most sure people can "go crazy" when they're desperate for somethin' they're obsessed with! Kinda along the same lines, people'll say anything when they're bargaining to save someone (Blanche givin' up sex). And maybe Sophia just felt the kids were still young and innocent? At least compared to the girls...and she wasn't around them very much to see their flaws. |

Rose could be pretty mean sometimes as "out of character". One episode (I completely forget which one), she was grouchy after waking up. Dorothy mentioned it, and Rose was like, "See, Dorothy, after I don't sleep well, I can be just as bitchy as you."
Sophia got emotional over things like Sal and Phil, but that is to be expected, I guess. Blanche and Dorothy, IMO, never acted out of character. Blanche was always sexy and sassy, and Dorothy was intelligent and smart-mouthed. |

I thought it was out of character for Dorothy to secretly date Stan...
