Smile Smallville

Does anyone else watch Smallville?? I really like this show, it has potential. I can't wait till the day when Lana and Clark get together of course that could be 5 or 8 years from now if Smallville really takes off. lol. Anyway, I was just wondering who all likes this show, besides me.

Smallville is awesome! It's one of my fave shows! Everybody should watch it because it's not just a teen show because it has action and deals with the superman story.

Ah, "Smallville". Now, this is a "new" take on the "Superman" legend that I DO actually like!!

Let me count the reasons why(heh-heh-heh) :

1. Tom Welling, Kristen Kreuk, and Micheal Rosenbloom. Three names that will go down in the history of the "Superman" legend as actors who got it RIGHT!! Clark, dealing with the un-dealable and learning something new about himself every day; Lana, on the cusp of maturity and making tentative strides; and Lex, alienated and paranoid, and these are his good qualities. A more compelling drama you'll find nowhere, as you watch these three divergent personalities converge upon one another!!

2. John Schnieder and Annette O'Toole. The definitive Pa and Ma Kent. Strong adults who guide their super-son thru his adolescence, not a couple of clueless goofs as most parents are portrayed on other show of this type. Both actors get high marks for the loving relationship between themselves and their alien child.

3. The Writing. Okay, they stumbled a bit with the "Freak-Of-The Week" routine during the first season, but after that the writing staff proved how much respect they had for the material (something a lot of superhero/comics adaptions seem to lack..."Birds Of Prey" anyone?), and enough imagination to pull it off and make it LOOK good!!

And that, boys and girls, is what I lik---no, LOVE about "Smallville"!!

But, once again, that's just me...

Some very good points W.J.

"Smallville" is a great show. The people behind the series have done a great job in reinventing the Superman franchise.
I only wish they took the same care with other superhero movies and series that have failed to deliver the goods.

I agree. Take "Birds Of Prey", for example...it wouldn't have killed those producers to, at the very least, keep the characters that made the comic series popular in the first place, but no, they had to go tampering with the concept, and wound up in the ash can as a result. It's the same with the live-action "Spider-Man" series from the late 1970s and those two "Captain America" telefilms...too many changes from the source material ("The Incredible Hulk" had changes, too, but at least it made up for those changes by utilizing excellent scripts and a fine cast.)

But maybe with the success of the "Spider-Man" and "X-Men" films on the big screen, producers who want to adapt comic series will, at the very least, refrain from constant changes in the concept that made these series popular in the first place.
