Question who is Bruce Villanche ?

Who is Bruce Villanch? He is a short guy who wears glasses has a heavy beard that talks with a slight lisp.

But he has been on tv quite a bit lately. On E! talking about the oscars. ON A&E and the Biography Channel talking about the stars ( Paul Lynde was one ). Heard him on radio talking about the recent TV Land awards. A friend of mine says he is big with the Hollywood Squares and even has his own star on the Hollywodd walk of Fame. She thinks he is a "huge fan". Fan of what?

but despite his recent appearances, other than what he is doing
now, nothing is said about his background, where is he from? why is he so "important" in Hollywood.

I am curious....who is he? What is his background? I even searched the web and still found nothing

Well, his last name is Villanche (note the e on the end)...that might help your serch.

He is a not very funny comic who in addition to appearing on Hollywood Squares has been the head writer on the Academy Awards for many years (which would explain why so many of the jokes fall flat).

I too dont "get him" !!!
I never knew he was even a comic. The times I have seen him ( I am not a Hollywood Squares watcher ) all he talks about is "the stars".

My cousin thinks he is the one behind those "gay-Bruce" jokes that many 70s sitcoms/game shows used over the years, from Maude to WKRP to Match Game.

I has a weird dream a few years ago where there was this sitcom starring Rosie O'Donnel and in the episode Bruce guest starred as her boyfriend without his trademark hair and glasses.I guess we know how that relationship turned out .

If you get the chance, rent the movie "Get Bruce" its a very funny documentary about Bruce Villanche, his life and career.

He has written for a lot of comics, and also for a lot of award shows.

Default he co-writes the oscar material for the hosts

he is a 70's hippy guy who wrote for alot of 70'shows like Smothers brothers type shows. He writes alot of material for billy crystal and the hosts of the oscars yearly the unfortunate part he is like many like Jim J.bullock who think there funnier then they really are.He does the gay thing either on purpose or he is doing a slam on gay people I don't know either way its old and not funny.
