That's commonly known as theft.

Hopefully, you'll either download a nasty, BIOS-erasing virus, or a full gigabyte of bitmulch.

Using Kazaa to steal from artists may seem harmless to you, but by depriving people of the money they've rightfully earned, you're helping ensure that only the blockbuster movies and music albums get produced.

You want something, get your wallet out and pay for it. Stealing is for cheap morons, not Morans.

And people accuse me of being rude.

First off, if "artists" (I use that term loosely) want people to pay for their music, then maybe they should stop putting out crap. Secondly, I doubt the poster wanted to steal a DVD episode, especially since you can watch them on TVLand. But maybe her television service doesn't provide her with TVLand, which is probably why she is looking for another source. There are indeed places where you can download shows and it isn't considered stealing.

Well said, MTM1Fan! I did a paper on Napster in school a couple semesters ago. My argument has always been, if the artists who are against it weren't artists, they'd probably be downloading songs just like the rest of us!

Back to the original question....No I don't think you can download episodes anywhere. What I'd really like is an mp3 of Dick singing the theme from the awards. Does anyone have the ability to make one?

Well, Shortcake,
I don't know if you're planning to steal or just want to collect and watch the programs (as I've admittedly done on tape). I hope I don't get accused of stealing for taping my favorite current TV shows every week! It's the only way I'd get to see them!
Be that as it may, I understand Joe F's thorough, although stinging reaction.
Anyway, there is a place where, if you have broadband, you can watch selected TDVDS on your computer, and LOTS of other TV shows too! Here's the link:Liketelevision.com
I hope that helps for all of you DVDS deprived souls.

Steve

LOL thanks guys for sticking up for me. No i am not going to steal an episode. I do not have a dvd burner, and the thought never crossed my mind LOL I just wanted to have them to where I could watch them during the day instead of at 2:00 in the morning. I would gladly pay for them if they were available for me to buy LOL that guy was so rude! .

Let me get this straight. It's not stealing because, in your opinion, you don't think it's art and you believe it's crap?

Then why download it in the first place? Do you think it's only stealing if you like it? I don't see your point here.

Kristen's point makes no sense, either. She's simply accusing others of stealing to validate her own theft. Blindly accusing them of stealing.

It just sounds like many of you, plain and simple, are too cheap to pry open the old wallet and pay for something you believe is of value. You justify theft with the same reasoning teenagers use for ripping off sweaters at the local mall.

There's a huge difference between making a tape for your own enjoyment and distributing potentially millions of copies of said tape over the internet. And don't say it's being done at no cost. That kind of bandwidth costs money and eliminates the opportunity for the copyright owners to make money off of their own work.

I assume liketelevision has the rights to distribute these videos. There's probably some arrangement where they pay a percentage of what they receive from advertisers to the copyright owners.

Shortcake, you can buy about 40 episodes from Time-Life right now on DVD. Let us know if you go that route. There's even a link on dvdondvd.com - they'll get a portion of the purchase price if you use it.

I'd rather be considered rude by a group of thieves than contribute to the theft of intellectual property. I support artists - even the crappy ones.

That doesn't mean I buy Christina Aguilera CDs. What it means is that I recognize that artistic expression requires innovation and energy, and without a copyright system in place, sooner or later our only choices will be Eminem, Britney Spears, Aguilera and the latest Osbournes boxed set.

The way liketelevision works is, they're using public domain episodes. I know b/c those same episodes can be bought on VHS for next to nothing in stores. That's how they get away with it.

If you were ever able to find some site that would allow you to download entire episodes for free, it would probably take much longer and be more problematic (quality) than you'd want to be bothered with. I hear people saying it has taken up to 20 hours to burn a movie.

Liketelevision doesn't have a whole lot of episodes, and the streaming media capabilities of my PC are not the best, but it looks like that's all we have for now... other than being able to buy those few episodes.
