old ABC promos - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Are you all aqquainted with 80stvthemes.com, they have oodles of network promos mostly spanning the 70s & 80s ir real player (.ra) format. One of my favorite abc ones is "Come on Along with ABC" from 1982. The song is dangerously catchy & features HD/JLC quite prominently--in case you are not familiar with it (though i'm sure you are) it starts with Fonzie & Chachi arriving in a helicopter to a mass of adoring fans as they lead them down the street, Al is in a parade of other abc in "small town america," while Roger's at a country hoedown, then cut back to Times Square with Fonzie & Chachi (w/ Joanie) leading the crowd again while fireworks appear.

I also like how the "o"s in "Come on Along" merge to form the abc logo at the end after John Ritter lifts Joyce DeWitt--to the tune of a zooming synthisizer.

Also Fonzie & Chachi appear briefly in a building lobby in 1981's "Now is the time...ABC is the place." Potsie is also seen in a subway with Hal Linden (Barney Miller). Mr. C is in the '79 version of "Still the One" as ABC stars are picnicing & then setting off in a hot-air balloon as trhe lyrics go "... we're still the one for those happy days, still the one in so many ways, we're still having fun because we're still the one.." In one of the 1983 "That Special Feeling" promos, a girl & her grandfather are making snacks together then fall asleep watching "Happy Days"--doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement for the show.

Im pretty sure i seen Priscilla Barnes (Terry from Threes Company) in their too. Really is a catchy song.

In the 1981 promo, there's a shot of Mr. C & Joanie--I think but am not sure.

I liked the days when networks made "event" promos for their fall schedule/slogan that year.

There was another promo where they're building a barn.
