Lightbulb This is crazy!

Like the title says, this is crazy, but I'm having one of those days, so bear with me, it could be fun.

Imagine what ILL would be like if it were set in 2001 in another town and everyone had different occupations and such. What would you do with it? Fantasy folks; it's scary.

Let's play this as an add-on thread. I'll suggest a city, then the next person suggests a new occupation for Ricky, etc. until we come up with a new, fantasy ILL.

For example-
The show is now in Kansas City, Missouri. (good old Midwestern living!)

Now someone suggest an new job for Ricky.

Ricky (despite now knowing the dangers of smoking), is the owner of "Tobacco Island" in downtown KC. A heavy smoker for years, and a native of Cuba, Ricky assumed this would be a shoo-win, because he knows the tobacco business like the back of his hand.
~Now someone decide an occupation for Fred.

Lucy will fit in great with the 2nd Grader's antics! lol

Ethel is now the proud owner of a beauty salon, where she teaches women etiquette tips, and performs the ever famous 'Beauty-quotient' test on women.

GREAT!!

Now let's think of a plot for these people. Somehow involve their jobs.

Oh, and is this pre-Little Ricky or post?

Cool

Good idea. No Little Ricky.

Now let's not make this story too controversal; nothing about the tabacco settlement, no real estate scams, etc. This is a comedy after all!

I'd rather see Lucy & Ethel together in business. Like co-owning a bakery together.

Remember, the apartment building was in Ethel's name so she sold it, which made Fred have to go out and get another job, and Ethel bought the bakery with Lucy, who got her money from Ricky, who sold his nightclub.

Can you imagine howmany plots we can get out of Lucy & Ethel co-woning a bakery together? Flashback of a chocolate factory.

Terry, I like it! As soon as I get out out of this Creative Writing class I'm in (1 week left!), I'll think of something. That and try an write an Adam-12 fanfic.

I get a kick out of this fiction writing stuff!

I majored in English in college and took a Creative writing class and a critical writing class and a journalism class and etc. etc. I remember those classes all too well. But they came in handy because I mostly write for a living now.

I shoulda majored in English from the start. Especially with words like shoulda! I started as a journalism major, but I don't like forcing myself on people and making them talk to me. Then came Speech Communication Education (aka- teaching speech in high school) because that's all I did in high school (speech and drama), but I don't now, nor did I ever want to teach.

If it's Saturday, I must be on-line.

dawsongirl, what exactly are you studying and what would you like to do after college? And what year are you in?

I minored in Psychology which makes it easy to write analytically. And if you think I planned that, think again. It's just plain dumb luck that my major and minor in school fit into my career. I selected English and Pyschology because I liked them, not because I was planning ahead for my future. So be smarter than I was......

Yeah, that sounds like me. Pick it because it sounded interesting in a brochure.

Well, I'm not sure what I'm studying. I'm between majors right now. I would like to write fiction books, but whether or not that will actually happen has yet to be seen. I've always liked to write (scripts especially). My luck, I'll end up being a 9-5 secretary. I have no faith in myself sometimes.

I'm a third semester junior. I should be a senior, but since I can't make a decision, I keep taking these non-relevant classes just for credit. And last spring I only took 9 credits to avoid flunking...psychology.

First of all, what in the heck is with these 2:00AM messages. I don't want to be nosy but what are you doing hours before you hop on-line. Are you out and that's why you get on so late? We've been through this already but at that time, I'm

OK, now on to your self-confidence. I've already told you that you never cease to amaze me with your wealth of information. And you are well-versed and witty, especially when it comes to humor. I started out majoring in Psychology and then switched in my THIRD year to English. I had to take classes in my senior year to get enough credits to graduate. It's not too late. But try and get a general idea of what you want to do when you graduate.

You're very smart and I bet ambitious, too.
