I'm trying figure out why certain people in the Audience reacted this way in a serious scene on Good Times. The scene I'm referring to is when James and his Dad were in the bedroom having a serious conversation, and you can hear people in the audience laughing during the entire serious scene. I just found that to be strange. Did Anyone else hear that before?

I'd forgotten about that but sometimes it was funny how the Audience would carry on but the performers managed to continue their scenes as though they were doing a stage play and NOT a videoed TV sitcom that could have been re-done/editted before broadcasting. Lots of times, I can recall James starting to say something and the audience STILL reacting to something JJ said so James had to repeat his original line a second time to keep things going.
Most notably, I remember near the end of 'Florida and Carl' in which their romance is almost derailed by her insistance on quiet passivity in public instead of supporting Carl in getting openly angry at being served last. Anyway, the closing scene has them making up and her promising to at least not be totally polite even when others are rude. .and, as Florida reaches for a large pan of soup, a woman Audience Member can LOUDLY be heard saying in shock 'No, she's NOT!' a moment before Florida pours it over Carl's head! You have to admit, this unplanned response helped accentuate the comedic payoff of the ending!

I agree with this; sometimes it was annoying to hear the audience laugh inappropriately; other times I loved hearing the little things audience members said. It goes both ways.
I just wonder why the crew didn't take care of that situation. Oh well. |

You could also hear people in the audience laughing when Keith got off the phone with the doctor and said this "The doctor said if I ever get a good hit in this leg i will never walk straight again" |

I would've laughed at Keith myself. How in the world could someone destroy their leg tripping over JJ. |
