Default Rob Reiners comments at Tvland Awards

I know my comments will probably anger some of you But I thought Rob Reiners Anti War Anti President George W Bush and His administration remarks had no place in the Awards show and very few ppl applauded him after he made his remarks.
Funny thing when his president was in there Bill Clinton he could do no wrong now that his party isnt in the White House George W Bush can do nothing right Im not for War but something has to be done and I believe Military Force is the only solution to our problems in the Middle East. I wish these Liberal Democrat Celebrities like Rob Reiner Martin Sheen etc., would stop trying to force their views dpwn our throats just SHUT UP Rob should stick to what he does best making movies After the Tvland Awards maybe Archie was right he really is a Meat Head
P.S.
Seems to me they have Forgotten about 0-11

It was a joke, he was saying what Mike Stivic would have said. Since Mike was against war. It doesn't mean Rob is.

Rob was proudly at the front of a recent anti-war rally in Hollywood. I don't want this to be a political board since we are all lovers of AITF, but I am proudly on Rob's side and I hope he can lead us to the regime change we need (in Washington!)

Well your entitled to your opinion i just dont agree with it If Clinton or Gore was President we wouldnt hear a peep from Rob and his liberal thinking buddies. I want to go on record in support of our President George W.Bush and Our Millitary in whatever actions have to be taken against our MURDEROUS ENEMIES in the Middle East.

I just cant forget about 9-11 and all the thousands of ppl killed in Ny and Washington and All the torturous and murderous things that continue to go on in Middle East day after day. To Quote Archie Bunker CASE CLOSED Rest in Piece Carroll WE MISS YOU

I'm with you, I fully support our President and our armed forces. I think most of us would like to enjoy an evening of television without the political remarks. I use music and tv to take a break from all that is wrong with the world. These celebrities are certainly entitled to their opinion, however there is a time and place for everything. Just my 2 cents.

Thumbs up Re Rob Reiners comments at TV Land Awards

I knew that Rob Reiner was telling a joke when he was talking about war & George W. Bush.

Take Care and God Bless

HELLO PEOPLE!!! The intention behind the whole thing was if AITF was still on the air the conversation about Bush and the war would have been a source of a heated debate between Mike and Archie. Rob was doing it the way Mike would have done and did Archie's infamous raspberry. Sally Struthers did what Edith would have done and did her famous Gloria whine. Lighten up. It was great seeing Rob and Sally together again.

Rob Reiner's anti-war speech was to get his message out. To think otherwise is naive. If it were simply to illustrate how a banter between Archie and Mike would have gone on AITF, Rob would have said, "....and Archie would have said we should go to war because....."
Instead, the argument for war was a raspberry. This was a blatant political statement.
I agree that there's a time and a place for everything. I don't watch an Awards show to hear a celebrity's political views.
I think he was out of line.

Thank you, Janice. I agree 100%. That wasn't a joke. He meant to say it. He just tied it in cleverly to the character and the show.

I agree again with there's a time and a place for everything. You hear so much about this war. You just can't escape it. I would think I could watch one show without hearing about war. I thought the TVL award was gonna be the show. Nope, I'm wrong.

Default Janice ... Jenny ...

You 2 are right on 100% ... We don't watch TV award shows to hear political speeches/views. Funny how we never heard a single word ... not one ... When Uncle Bill (Cletus ... I mean Bill Clinton) bombed Kosovo and Iraq when he was in office!!! Or when we went into Somalia for the "humanitarian" mission! Hypocrites!!! Yeah ... The Academy Awards will probably be very OBNOXIOUS with a lot of political pot-shots and commentary (gag me ... please!!!). It'll be difficult to watch to say the least!!!

I was not bothered by his comments. I took it as them being in character and impersonating Archie and Edith. What they thought they might say. I agree with mstewart, It was great to see Sally and Rob.

Rob Reiner's anti-Bush and anti-Republican feelings have been well documented for years...and he is unquestionably against the war (although we never heard a peep out of him when Clinton and Daschle were talking about Saddam's W.O.M.D. in 1998, probably because he knew deep down that Clinton would not seriously do anything about it, other than lobbing a few missiles during Monica's testimony)...

Reiner is a great, great film maker though...certainly by the time his career is over, I think he'll be known as one of the top filmmakers of all time, if he's not already...a great talent...it's unfortunate that he just flat out doesn't understand the nature of the people we're dealing with here

Overall, the whole TV Land Awards show was pretty pathetic, I though...Dick Van Dyke is apparently the ONLY performer there who still maintains at least SOME type of performance standards...I thought his quartet number was pretty good...everyone else was really, really bad! Even Shirley Jones was bad in her "duet" with David Cassidy...but enough of that, this is about AITF, not the TV Land Awards

Have a great day, everybody
