Lucy was SO popular that the show has either been pariodied or mentioned in several other TV shows throughout TV history. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to name some of these shows.
I'll start y'all out with 3: WKRP- The Real Families Episode That 70's Show- Fez and Donna become Lucy and Ricky (that one was hilarious!) The Simpsons- The one where Lucille visits Lisa: Homer and Bart are watching one twisted version of ILL Now your turn! |

I dont know if this counts or not, but on the Nanny, Mr. Sheffeild always said, "Miss Fine, you got some splainin to do."
------------------ Mr. Belding: Screech, you can't elope! Screech: Don't call me a cantelpope, you melonhead! (On SBTB when Mr. Belding thought Kelly and Screech were getting married) |

On the Nanny there was also an episode where Fran falls asleep and she is in the Lucy episode where she is pregnant and just came back from the doctor. Also, there was a song and video made by Al Yankovick that was called hey Ricky fashioned after the song Hey Micky and it had Lucy in the lyrics. Also on In Living Color, I think Jim Carrey played Ricky and the Damon sister played Lucy but her name was LaQuita or something like that

In the Golden Girls, one time Dorothy sarcastically remarked to Blanche's hair being natural "Sure Blanche, yours and Lucy's!" Another time the girls stayed up all night to watch an I Love Lucy marathon.
I'm sure theres more shows, too! |

Ok so this probably isn't exactly what you're talking about, but I was watching 'Frasier' the other night and noticed that they totally used the whole translation bit from the France episode. You know, where Lucy was in jail for counterfeiting (sp?) and obviously only spoke English, Ricky spoke Spanish and English, the drunk man spoke Spanish and German, etc..... I like it when you see reoccuring plots from ILL in other shows. Shows just how good the writing really was.

In another Golden Girls episode, where the girls are auditioning talent for a talent show, Dorothy keeps telling Sophia that she can't be in the show. Sophia, in a mocking voice, responds:"you can't be in the show, you can't be in the show. Who are you, Ricky Ricardo? Why couldn't she be in the show? The woman was a riot at home; his show at the club stank!"
Kate and Allie did a tribute to ILL by shooting an episode mostly in black and white. Kate, as Ethel, and Allie, as Lucy, think the man coming over is a director of a Civil War movie, and they start dressing and acting like characters from Gone with the Wind! Kate acts like Mammy....It was hilarious! |

Gilda Radner portrayed Lucy Ricardo on the Saturday Night Live episode hosted by Desi Arnaz.
Also on the Simpsons, there is an episode (Marge becomes a cop) where Homer splits his bedroom down the middle "a la I Love Lucy." |
