Default Ratings

Found the Nielsen rating for the Batcave movie. I'm highlighting the Batcave part in red.

Early Evening Strength Carries CBS to Sunday Win
Mon, Mar 10, 2003 10:01 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fast National Ratings for Sunday, March 9, 2003

As is the typical pattern for Sunday nights, CBS started the evening strong, holding off FOX, and ended the night weak, nearly losing back all that ground to NBC, eking out a close win overall.

With a 7.3 rating/12 share, CBS held off NBC's 6.7/11. FOX was third with a 6.2/10, followed by ABC with a 5.2/8. In metered markets, The WB averaged a 2.8/4 for the evening.

With an 11.6/20, "60 Minutes" was the night's highest rated program, winning the 7 p.m. hour for CBS. In second was FOX with a repeat of "The Simpsons" (4.8/8) and "King of the Hill" (5.5/9). On ABC, "The Wonderful World of Disney" finished third with a reairing of the animated "Tarzan" earning a 4.4/8 for the hour. NBC's "Dateline" was fourth. On The WB, an old episode of "Gilmore Girls" brought in a 2.4/4 for the hour.

CBS also won comfortably at 8 p.m. thanks to the network's comedy line-up. Both "My Big Fat Greek Life" (9.0/14) and "Becker" (8.0/12) were down from last week, but both still held on to their half hours. FOX was again second with a new episode of "The Simpsons" (7.8/12) and the heavily touted premiere of "Oliver Beene," with scored a decent 7.2/11 opening. NBC was third with "American Dreams" earning a 5.7/9, followed by the conclusion of "Tarzan" on ABC. "Charmed" brought in a 3.1/5 on The WB.

At 9 p.m., NBC took over with an easy win for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" which averaged a 9.7/15. FOX finished a distant second with a new episode of "Malcolm in the Middle" (6.0/9) and a repeat of "Malcolm" (5.6/9). The CBS movie "Return to the Batcave" was third averaging a 4.9/8 for the hour . A repeat of "Alias" on ABC finished fourth. A repeat of "Charmed" earned a 2.9/4 on The WB.

NBC also won at 10 p.m. with "Boomtown" scoring a 6.8/12, just ahead of ABC's "Dragnet" at 6.6/12. The second hour of "Return to the Batcave" trailed.

Ratings for UPN were unavailable.

Ratings information provided is from fast national data. Figures for UPN and The WB are from the overnight metered markets. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.

Overall, that's not too bad. I'm glad people remember the show and "get it". I like 'Alias' too but being beat by Batman cannot be a positive vibe for the suits at ABC. Repeat or not.

Your welcome, Impressions.

So true. Maybe the movie didn't get to #1, but we did get some pretty good ratings.

Thanks Jenny.

It did farely well in the ratings, at least IMO. I thought it was great, and those who didn't watch it, really missed out on a treat.

Your welcome, Shawn.

It was pretty cool seeing some of the cast again. You know what would be so cool, they should sell items about Batcave. I could seriously see trading cards. I'd buy them in a minute.

Yeah, merchandise would be great.

OT: Go over to the dramas board and look at the SCIFI April schedule. You won't like it, and frankly, neither do I. Daytime Rotation continues, and Star Trek gets two more DRs, one right before my birthday (it's on the 28th, and my birthday is the 29th of April).

Anyway, sorry to get OT.

Yeah, I just read your post over there, Shawn. Well, you did have a good point. It sounds like from your post, we were in the same boat together. Before Scifi dropped it before, did you only have that last marathon tape? That's how I was. I had sense enough to record the marathon. Luckily, I had sense enough to record it during the midnight slot.

I don't want to sound greedy, and I prob. will sound greedy. In a way, I'm very disappointed that it's getting dropped again. Then again, I do have more episodes now than I had before.

Clinton & Dole Draw Viewers

The return of the Clinton-Dole debates, albeit on a much-compressed basis, lifted CBS's 60 Minutes to a 12.7 rating and a 20 share Sunday night, according to Nielsen overnights. It was the top-rated program of the night and helped CBS win it despite dismal ratings for the made-for-TV movie Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt, which averaged only a 5.7/9 between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. My Big Fat Greek Life, also helped counter the Batcave debacle as it drew a 10.2/15 at 8:00, but that was 20 percent below what it drew last week. (12.8/19).

I don't care what they say in these articles about the ratings. What I mean is, this movie isn't for everybody. You have to be a fan of Batman or a fan of Adam and Burt to really enjoy the movie. If you barely like Batman and you have never heard of Adam West or Burt Ward, you wouldn't be watching it. Maybe it just isn't supposed to get top ratings. I still feel the ratings were pretty good.

The other people on the other Batman board I visit said that it would've prob. helped if they had aired it at 8 p.m. Which is true, in a way. The movie came on at 9 and went off at 11 and we do have to remember the people that go to work or school. I'm just talking from my experience, but I would go to bed at 10 p.m. when I was in school. When I was in school, everything that I wanted to see came on at a later hour on a school night. I could always set my vcr to record it and watch it later. I rarely got to stay up til 11 to watch something on a school night. Just wasn't happening. Same with work. If you have to go to work early, it's possible that you just can't sit up till 11.

Then again, I can understand the 9 p.m. time slot. Some of the parts where they talked about more mature subjects, prob. wouldn't be such a great thing for younger viewers.

Maybe we can all still get our wishes. Maybe they'll release the movie and the series out on DVD. Sell some merchandise for the movie and make another movie.
