Although, I love both shows I picked TMTMS. I guess because I like the storylines better and the fact that Mary Richards is looking for Mr. Right, and lets not forget those parties!

Well said, Holly! Same here. Both shows are incredibly well written and deserving of the acclaim they've gotten over the years. I really think it comes down to personal preference.

Right, you are! I hate choosing though because I love both shows so much and they both have their good qualities and of course I have my favorite episodes from both.

Please don't make me choose. On any given day my answer would be different. They're my (interchangeable) #1 and #2 favorite shows of all time. I declare a "tie"! (Whew! Wormed outta that one!)

I already stated my reason on the DVD board. But, I can't choose between the two. I love them both equally. I've been a fan of both shows all my life.

These aren't my two favorite sitcoms, but they're both still great, and I can't choose, heh.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show! The Dick Van Dyke Show is great too, but I just prefer MTM, especially when you have Ted Knight and Ed Asner.

After a lot of thought, "The Dick Van Dyke" show.
