What do you do when someone makes you feel bad - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

What do you do when someone brings you down? For example, if one day people are constantly making fun of something you did, or something about your personality/looks, how do you handle it?
It's hard to just ignore it, but sometimes ignoring works. But for me, I try to ignore, but it just makes me feel bad for the rest of the day. Anyone have any thoughts or anything?

well I use to get into lots of Fights for things like this but Now I just go home and cry about it.

I try to ignore it and act like it doesn't bother me but mostly it does. I dwell on it for the rest of the day and can't help it and normally get it out in writing.

It happens to me everyday... I usually just go home and listen to music and chat with my friends about it. Most of the time It helps, but not always. Its one of my many problems.

For me I just shrug it off. I don't know why but I have the attitude that if someone doesn't like me then oh well, their loss.

I live in a small town. Small town = small-minded people so I'm used to haveing people call me names and try'n pull me down. I've gotten to the stage where it just bounces off me now.
I only really get upset when people who should care about me and who should be on my side try'n get at me. My mother and father always critisise me and lately one of my best friends has been treating me rather badly. That hurts me.
If I get really depressed then I'll just get drunk - that usually helps. Either that or I smash stuff up or hurt myself. It's not productive but it takes my mind off the situation.

thats how i am, its the theory of "duck water"..just let everything roll off you

if someone doesnt like you, why waste your time worrying about what they think

People can only make you feel down if you LET them...smile and ignore nasty comments. People who try to put others down are insecure with themselves.

usually, if its regarding my looks, i say "if thats all you can see, then youre more shallow than i thought."

that shuts them up.

I try to ignore it, and usually I succeed, but sometimes I can't help it and I bitch the person out. But no matter what I do, I always feel terrible about how they treat me.
