Death of Sanford and Son Guest Star in Feb. - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I am not sure if this was posted before or not but frequent "Sanford and Son" guest star, Fritzi Burr, passed away last month. She appeared in several episodes, most notably as the woman on the airplane that Fred fights with while standing in the line for the restroom(Hawaiian Connection) and she was also one of the judges in the Redd Foxx look-alike contest (Fred Meets Redd).

Miss Burr passed in January, not February, as I first indicated. Here is the news release:

[January 25, 2003] Fritzi Burr, Actress and comedienne on TV, films, Broadway died January 17 of natural causes in Fort Myers, FL at age 78. Burr appeared in movies like "Chinatown" and "They Shoot Horses Don't They?", and in numerous TV shows including "Seinfeld", "Friends" (Mrs. Tedlock) and "Sanford & Son"

I am sorry to hear that. She also appeared in the episode, The Committee Man, where she played Mrs. Channing,one of the committee members. That episode was where Fred is accepted as a member of the commitee and when he takes one look at her,he says, "Sheesh! I don't believe it, a white Esther!" That episode where they clashed and trade insults at each other was very funny.

Okay-I know who she is now. I couldn't figure it out from her real name but seeing the name Mrs. Channing made me realized who she was on the show.

Yep, Fritzi Burr played a sort of "white" version of Esther. She guest starred in the following episodes:
