Question Overposting

Is overposting bad? Like what will happen? Because a lot of people complain to people who overpost... and the sticky message on this board states that he will delete the posts with over 1000 replies. Why? What's the effect of overposting?

TJ was talking about the random threads.. he's not going to just delete any useless posts we have, only the random threads if they become to big.

What happens though if they become too big....

And also, there was a time on a board (i forgot which one), someone got mad at someone for posting too much.

Plus, there was a time where someone told me to stop posting too much

Is there something wrong with overposting?

There is nothing wrong with overposting. Post as often as you feel like it I like reading your posts.

There's nothing wrong with overposting except maybe looking like you never have anything better to do.

I recall once, when TJ closed a huge random post on Chit Chat, he said it was because it looked bad. It was about about 3 inches long.
As for over posting alot in other threads, that's up to you I guess. I don't think there's a rule against that.
I can tell when someone's trying to build up their post count when I see their name all over the place with 3 word replies.

Random threads kinda annoy me but I just stay out of them if I'm not in the mood to join in with the madness. What would p!s$ me off would be if there were more than one random thread on the go at any one time - there's no need for more than one!
Another thing that slightly bugs me is when one person will start about 5 or 6 different topics in one day. This isn't really fair cos it pushes everyone elses topics down the board. I guess this doesn't happen too often though.
As for people posting one-word answers just to boost their post total - if they wanna do that then that's fine. I know some people seem to see a high post total as some kind of status symbol but it really means nothing. I'm not even sure what my total is right now.

Random threads kinda turn into chat rooms and I guess it becomes to much to monitor. I really dont know though.

Its not like a bad thing, I wouldn't say, just the random posts are kinda annoying!

The only times overposting gets annoying is-

Like Mossopp said, when one person starts like 80 threads a day.

When all the person posts is dumbass things

" " to get more posts. Who cares about the post total??

Exactly. Especially at Chit Chit Games, where people post like 10 times in a row. It's very obvious the people who are just trying to raise thier post total.

In that one countiug game, LucyFan posted like 6 freaking pages all by himself minus like 2 or 3 other posts. Like 1/3 of all his posts come from that board alone. I say if people want to play games, that's fine, but TJ should really consider making posts on that board not count towards your total. That way, you'll see who's playing the games for the game and who's really playing just to rise their post total.

I think some of the games are actually somewhat entertaining when you're bored.

Yes so do I, but posting countless amounts of numbers over and over? I don't know, that's the one that gets to me when people overdo it.
